I think this explains why a friend of mine had success on eHarmony. Its because the girls only get 5 picks a day. Not the 10,000 emails a day they normally get on other sites like match.com or plenty of fish.
Its funny how choice or increased choice can have a detrimental effect on people's happiness. In the video, he describes how the paintings were ranked and how if the people were given a choice to "trade in" their first choice paintings, this would make them de-value and be unhappy at their first choice.
There was actually a book written on this topic and I'll have to find it and read it.
For me this comes as a suprize and also the fact that the community prizes choice, almost worships it in a weird way, which leads me to question the validity of choice as a goal.
