DallasPUA Group Chat (GroupMe Text Distribution) Frequently Asked Questions.

How do I join the Dallaspua Group Chat?
1. Download the GroupMe app ([iTunes] [Android]) and sign up. If you don't install the app, you will get text messages from each time someone posts a message in the group - be aware of that you may get hundreds of texts a day if you do this.

2. Send me or Triumvirate a PRIVATE MESSAGE with your first name and phone number with the title "GroupMe Distribution". We'll try to get you added as quickly as possible.

3. Once you get added, send an introduction text to the group. You will be automatically kicked if you don’t! (it’s a GroupMe default)

What groups are there to join?
Right now there are two main groups - "DFW Guys" and "#teamfortworth." "DFW guys" tends to focus on Dallas mostly and "#teamfortworth" focuses pretty much strictly on Fort Worth. Creating a group is free and easy on GroupMe if you want to have another chat channel with just your wings.

What are the rules? / Why did I get kicked out?
If you are trying to sell things over the distribution or threatening people, or anything of the like - we'll warn or remove you (depending on severity of offense).

The other thing is that YOU WILL BE REMOVED IF YOU ARE INACTIVE FOR TWO WEEKS AFTER JOINING. This chat is for people who REGULARLY go out, and the chat has a set limit of 50 people. We will (usually) warn you when you are about to be kicked. The good news about this is that YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK TO RE-JOIN.

Are newbies welcome?
Of course, but we expect you to come out and not make excuses! Take any advice you hear from other guys, especially on the forums, with a big grain of salt. You can't take someone at their word unless you actually meet with them to see if they can back up what the advice they are giving.

Is it free?
Yes. GroupMe is a free app.

Will it work on my iPhone/Droid/non-smart phone?
Yes. GroupMe is a group messaging service for ANY type of smart phone. It works on non-smart phones as well, if you set it to receive messages as texts.

What's the point of the group chat?
Glad you asked. With it, you can see what everyone is doing immediately. You can tag along, or do your own thing. Oh and you can find someone doing stuff ANY night of the week. No more sending off PMs to have the forum not send it!

How is GroupMe's privacy policy?
GroupMe's privacy policy seems pretty solid, but I signed up with <fake name / real number / real email> regardless. Also, I did NOT connect with facebook or twitter.

I'm going to edit the top post once I get myself to a computer based on what we learned. Right now, we have 12 guys on the distro and 1 victory pic. Some funny conversations, good insights, and dudes wrecking Dallas. If you go out in the area, you need to get in on this. It works exactly as intended - it helps us self-organize a bit better instead of sending out way too many "what's going on tonight" texts.

I will also post/revise my recommendations for Sarging etiquette. We want newbies to come out with more experienced folk, and I have some thoughts on how to smooth out any possible issues.
