Using pets to open...

I was attending a convention over the weekend, and brought my pet ferret
(Buckaroo) to the con late Saturday night for a couple of hours.

Within 1 minute of letting him out of his carrier, I was surrounded by
at least 4 girls, & the line "He's so *cute*!" was said by every chick within
the first 3 sentances she spoke. I was kind of expecting to get some
attention, but I was rather taken aback at how quickly and the magnitude
of how much attention that Buckaroo created.

Now I just have to figure out how to smoothly switch the convo from
being about him to me...

If the chicks as what his name is, tell them it's Wingman.

Reminds me of an opener

I use an opener daygame whenever I see a girl with a dog.
It goes like this:

"Do you think people look like their pets or is it just their personalities?"

Transition:
"...Like if we put some fur on your face, you'd look just like Fluffy here."

You can follow this up by talking about an article you read in a science magazine about research done on pets and their owners and how the longer they are together, the more they feel like feel like eachother and they begin to adopt eachothers' mannnerisms...kinda like good friends or lovers.

Hopefully they're content to keep things in the "good friends" category in that regard though.
