i suck at dancing

Postby omgdallas » Sun Feb 04, 2007 1:33 pm

Does anyone have any tips on how to learn how to dance? Any tutorial websites or videos?

I'm talking like techno, hiphop dance. It seems like it would be a pretty good skill to have.

Right now I am terrible. I have no idea what I am doing.

It's a tough nut to crack here, but I'll try and give a few
suggestions that might help.

First off, until you are actually good, the dance floor is *not*
a place to work PUA skills. I think it's a quote from Mystery
that "The dancefloor is like the Light in Poltergeist. Do not
look at the Light, and do not go into the Light." If you want to
go out and dance, feel free, but just concentrate on enjoying
dancing and not try to pick up an anyone while you are doing it.

Now, as far as actually picking up technique, you can (and
probably should) go to classes. Many dance schools already
offer hip-hop classes. I have also found to be very usefull
is being familiar with the music you are dancing to.

One other thing. Techno and hiphop styles are fun, but you
do *not* get the most PUA bang for your buck out of those
styles. What you really want to know how to do well is any
kind of partner dancing like Salsa, Swing, etc. where you
actually have a perfect excuse for massive amounts of kino.

Good luck.

I especially agree with hunter rose w/ the salsa classes. One, most salsa your hands, hips, and whatnot have already been all over the girl (that doesn't mean dancing is an excuse to grope her) but she'll feel easier about kino later. And second, if you get good at salsa, your the leader. She spins and sways and bends to your making. If your gain her trust and respect on the dance floor, the rest is a walk in the park. Lastly, you'll just flat out look cool. I strongly recomend classes.

Let's not forget this is Texas. Two steppin' is good too if you like country girls. I know some of the bigger places like Cowboys in Arlington and Cowboys Red River in Dallas, and Billy Bobs offer free dance lessons during the week. I don't know what days though. Cowboy up dude!

Dancing helped me, gave me confidence. Most women do not know how to dance. They do what I call a bad lap dance and want you to watch. When you find one that can dance you'll have the time of your life. Take salsa, west coast, East coast and hustle. These dances will help you. Incorporate them into free style dance and have fun.

Not only will dancing give you confidence, it will teach you how to mirror a woman. Here is a link to the Dance Club that I go to for lessons.

i just signed up for classes yesterday and begin learning today. confidence on the dance floor and overall body language should be a benefit of taking the dance lessons.

i am going to the arthur murray dance studio on 635.

Had I known you were looking to take lessons, I would have sent you in a different direction. I work for a non profit that has regular dances and group lessons, it's a great place to start.
