Rock, Paper , Scissors

AFC AdamLondon's post on the limbo line, which is genius, got me thinking about tactics I've used to draw attention to myself/ my group in a cool non-cheesy way.

Back in the day I use to room with some hard core gamblers, and one of the things we did for fun, was to play the rock anytime money had to be spent. Drinks, throw the rock; cab fare, throw the rock; dinner, throw the rock; need a new cd player, throw the rock, you get the idea. After awhile I noticed that when we were playing the game in public, we would always draw the attention of those nearby. Invariably people would watch, hell even sometimes cheer if the game got protracted and intense. Afterward, it was fairly common for girls to open us by asking what we doing, who was getting killed and who was riding a hot streak, etc...

Looking back, I realized that that RPS was greatness for several reasons:
1) It draws attention to you in a cool way. The game allows for out-sized gesturing, and raised voices, which would otherwise be deemed inappropriate.
2) It builds social proof to all around you by demonstrating how much fun you are and that you can afford to pick up a round (or 10 as happened to me on a bad night)
3) Provides an opportunity for women to open you in a natural way.
4) Allows women a peak into the world of men. Women love to see men interacting in positive fun way and generally want to be apart of it on some level.
5) Adds a little excitement and drama (remember they love emotion, the more intense, the better) to what could otherwise be a dull evening, and you’re the cause of it.
6) Its fun to do while in set and allows you to draw in wings, or fill in gaps in conversation. Hell you can even try rocking her for a kiss. Never tried that, but I bet it'll work.

So give it shot sometime and let me know how it works out. When you’re out with your boys, rather than take turns buying rounds for your group, play rock, paper, scissors instead. To play with more than 2 people simply go odd man out till you’re down to 2 then standard rules come into play. Generally, when you’re down to 2 you will want to go best 2 out of 3. Remember you want to draw it out and build suspense. Hell if you’re smart you can decide ahead time to throw identicals to drag it out longer.

Good Luck
