Theory:

Guys in PU excessively calibrate themselves based on the set, if you've done this long enough you're probably a victim as well as a witness.

These are the guys to which I'm speaking. Social calibration is what I feel that you and Twitchy are alluding to and I totally agree that you have to calibrate your message to the audience. But, all too often guys in PU will calibrate their entire personae to match that of the audience.

Calibrate your delivery, not your message.

Yea I get what you are saying. I definitely think you are right about this but I don't really know any guys that do this to an extreme.

I think every guy needs to have a sense of self and confidence in who he is.

What I think Bull is talking about is if you meet a girl that was into hard rock for example and even though you do not like hard rock at all you pretended that you were some rocker guy in order to win her over.

(Man my examples have been sucking lately)

If you have a strong sense of self though you don't have to do this which I think is what we are all agreeing on because you are willing to say that I don't really like hard rock but I do really enjoy XYZ and you are able to win her over by being yourself.

As I said before though I don't think I really know any guys that change their personality and who they are based on who they are talking to.

This makes a lot of sense and I find it a compelling way of viewing the world. However, I've found that if you have a strong enough frame your target is going to be willing to do things that she otherwise may not at a pace that she may have never experienced. Your frame should be strong enough to pull her out of her comfort zone and place her in your world.

I think we're in complete agreement here. A little clarification: I didn't mean it to be pacing to keep her in her comfort zone. You pace it to what you can get away with. ;)

Ooohhh okay. I thought you were referring to social calibration. The example given kinda eluded that to my widdle brain.

I think what you're referring to is less like calibration and more like an actor getting in to character. Therefore I whole-heartedly agree with ya.
