ok see, apparently it depends you you ask. i don't understand what's so hard about having a conversation that you would need to have routines. i mean, how are you getting int o situations where you are running out of things to say? just be iin the moment man. converstaions have a life of their own, just let them go where they go. no i don't have stories that i tell over and over, i avoid that because i HATE repeating shit.

i agree with Grimm...i could see this on Day2's or something like that situation, but especially just sarging and meeting for the first time, it's all about just going w/ the flow, situational, etc.

Hahah Grimm

I always wanted routines just to keep a conversation going. I don't have the ability that you do to run sets for an hour. It is just very very rare for me to talk to any single girl for that period of time.

I always wanted a routine stack. I am lazy though and never got one. I don't see anything wrong with them however I do agree with what Grimm is saying. Just let it flow but here is the problem.

If you are not yet good you don't know where to take the conversation. So yes you might talk to some girl for a lengthy period of time but you never end up building attraction or comfort or anything like that. You are just there keeping her not too bored. This is the case for many guys who end up getting LJBFed because they just had some mundane conversation with the girl.

I like routines I just like them to be real. They should be congruent with who you are or you should be able to act very well into making them believe they are congruent with your personality.

My lazy ass ever learning a routine stack? Nah I will just wing it and get the marginal success I seem to find.

You guys are missing what Sal and I meant.

Everyone has stories that they tell about something crazy that happened once in their life.

Grimm, remember that time you ran from the cops on foot?

Yeah, well if you tell that story regularly (which I know you've told a mutual friend of said story) then by it's most simple definition that is a routine. It may not have DHV spikes and what not but in it's purest form it is a routine.

Based on this, every person on earth actually runs routines even if they don't know it.

the reason i disagree with routine stacks is because it disregards listening, being in the moment, being situational, and actually taking part in the interaction.

i have re-told events that have happened to me but i don't have it boiled down to a "routine" (ie memorised word for word) that i tell and retell.

in the case of our mutual friend she asked about the incident, i didn't volunteer or push the story and like i said, i didn't have it canned. so this was an example of in the moment, situational conversation which is NOT a stack.

You sound like me PC ;) I don't have a routine either I just fly by the seat of my pants :)

Grimm I think you forgot the subject of the thread... the point of microcalibration is that you are listening and being situational and adjusting your routine to that.

Micro-calibration is something Mystery came up with, and what it is is basically a framework to see ALL communication as either IOI, IOD, DHV, or DLV. Here's an article that explains it, although Sinn takes credit for inventing it which he didn't.

http://www.growyourgame.com/articles/social-skills/sinn-explains-micro-calibration/

If you're thinking of all that stuff, how can you possibly be paying attention to what's going on in the conversation? However a skilled communicator is probably doing this subconsciously.

WHen i said situational, I was talking about paying attention to what's being said, not off in some IOI / DHV land. Be in the moment, and focus on the vibe, emotion or the ENERGY of the interaction.

So like I said, it's a stepping stone. And so are routines.

i can't think of all that stuff in conversation grimm that's why i don't even try :) i'm not an advocate... just saying if you can do it more power to you :) but yea i would think someone who's either a natural or really good does a lot of it subconsciously
