Alright so I have never field tested this, but I read it on theattractionforums.com in a field report by a guy named HumorUS. He's like my new favorite great PUA out there.
I like his style and think I will have a similar style to his when I start doing night game.
His style is a little too harsh for day game :(
But anyways.
Somewhere in set he says "If I wasn't gay I would be hanging out with you guys all night" or something along the lines of that.
Hbs say "You're gay?!?!?!"
He says "Ha! No if I was gay i'd be a huge waste of talent!"
He then takes out his tongue and does a little flick with it(as if he was eating a girl out)
Then they are all shocked and shit because noone does this stuff and noone is calibrated for this stuff lol
So then he goes "Woah! Did I just sense someone get wet????"
Then they end up laughing.
I just thought this was a cool funny thing to do so thought I would post it.

There are so many things wrong with this specific line that I'm not sure where to begin...
First, being gay and hanging out with the group have NOTHING in common. Saying that he's gay in this situation makes zero sense. And, correlating the two 1) the group and 2) that he's gay makes no logical sense either. It's very obvious that he's using a line and force feeding it into the interaction.
One of the keys with the ever powerful 'gay' line is using it at the appropriate time. Sometimes it comes up, sometimes it doesn't. But, just throwing it out there in a fashion like this makes no sense.
I tend to wait until they make a physical overture in my direction. They touch you, THEN you say "whoa...hands off missey!" Then you lean in and whisper, "I'm totally gay." Then, change the subject to something totally unrelated [make sure it's something funny and random, that frames the interaction and gives her the feeling that the gay comment could just be a funny and random thing that you would normally say, not necessarily the truth].
If they like you, which they do as evidenced by the touch, they're going to play along. That's when you can use this time to brag about whatever it is that you wish without coming off as a try hard.
"Umm...I'm totally gay. Would a straight guy be able to play Stairway to Heaven on the keyboards? Would a straight guy care about his appearance and have this much style? Would a straight guy shave his balls?"
You can say whatever if you frame as proof that you are gay. [Remember you can claim any trait, characteristic, whatever, to be 'gay.' It's not logical, it's a bar.]

Again, he's being a try hard. I've learned over my time in the Community that women that talk about how talented they are in the sack ARE NOT!!! If they're good, they don't have to say a word...they'll fucking show you.

The point of the gay line is for it to be a disqualifier. Once she's hooked on it, i.e. says you're not gay or doesn't believe you, then you string her along in a playful manner. The point is for it to be a Trojan Horse technique.
Sometimes you can take it too far, which sucks. But, if you do it right, they're going to be totally off balance with you. And, most likely, they'll come right out and ask. And, when they come out and ask, that's when you escalate.

The Gay line is tricky. Doesnt really work if your as pretty as me. Then they just assume that I AM gay and I cant escape that for the rest of the night. Besides with all the gay activism going on It's not really a joke anymore. Its becoming a more sensitive topic and trying to frame gay as not good enough or bad could backfire in your face. How many gay friends do you think any 1 Hot girl has?

Go out and field test it. If you get punched in the face it will build character. If it works... well that builds character too... lol

I'm not sure activism has much of an impact on this line, but it could potentially touch a nerve. Oddly enough, I've had the opposite experience. I've had people respond in a revolting way more than them being offended (which has never happened). Remember, most of America is accepting of gay people but still view them as, well, gay (in the weired sense). Case in point, California has twice voted down legalizing same sex marriage...
It DOES backfire though. More than once the girl has tried to hook me up with a gay friend of theirs. This situation does become awkward.
Your last point is well taken though.
Give it a shot. If it works, then awesome...if it fails miserably then you can learn from the experience and move on.

I have had girls after sex tell me that they thought I was previously gay. Nothing wrong with having an effeminate demeanor of sorts. But In My experience and Probably BRs, There are more creative and effective(as well as less confusing) ways to build comfort and attraction.
