Pushing your sets.

I got to give a hand to Vector as the inspiration for my post. This came to me last night as 4 of us from the local community were sarging at Zephyr on Greenville(no cover btw). All 4 of us had the same opprotunity with this girl. It was Vector whotook the oprotunity, pushed the set, and isolated.

I thought to myself, that's what puts his game a step ahead of mine, pushing your sets. Both of us have a lot in common on the front end of a set, with the high energy, good banter, kino and body language. Where he pulls away, and I gave him his due, is that he does push.

To be fair, at that point we didn't all have the same opportunity. I had opened the set at another bar and I had invited them to come with us to Zephyr, and she and I had left Zephyr to take her friend home and come back. So there was really no question that she would follow me.

But I agree that pushing yourself is really key. For me one of my issues is escalating and increasing the sexual tone. And the semi-direct openers like the one from Wednesday are still outside my comfort zone. "You look cute, I came over here to see if y'all are fun." And I'm really not good at coming up with day2s. I have plenty to work on.

For some of you (you know who you are) you need to be pushing yourself just by opening a lot more. I'm going to be harassing you more about it next time.

I did not know all that. I thought you guys had just met her. I guess communication is key.

I must say a change came for me when I realized that I work with people all day long, and regularly make people laugh, and get quick rapport. Why cant I use those things on a bar? Half the stuff you hear me say is field tested at work, THEN in a bar.

I love the line about "whos the trouble maker in the group?". Theres several things you can do with the path it opens up, it gets a laugh most of the time, and allows you to neg as part of the resulting conversation.

I really need to work on isolation. Thats the next step for me. Any suggestions in this area would be welcome.

I think that confusion made the isolation weird. It got so nobody knew what was going on. And she asked me if I was going to stay with her. I was thinking, "isn't Vector trying to isolate her? Now if I go, I'm ruining the isolation by tagging along, but if I stay, it might look like I'm trying to steal his set." So I just stood up and followed to see what would happen. Thankfully, it worked out, although not as planed I'm sure.
