The Looks Department

Although we debate this back and forth, I was talking to a friend of mine and there are really not alot of things in this area.
1. Weight. Look at percent body fat, total weight and height weight charts. If you're too fat, try dieting and exercise. I would aim at getting a percentage body fat lower than say 20%.

2. Muscles. Just looking trim or fit in the body looks good. Ideally, you want a shoulders to hips ratio of 1.63...which approaches the Golden Ratio (A credit card has length vs. height in that ratio). Also the normal human body has this as its normal shape. The body and nature have many examples of the golden ration (or phi).
Since this is not a Gym discussion, I'm going to break with conventional wisdom and say that the beauty of the 1.63....ratio is better than a muscle bound guy who looks like Lou Farigno or Arnold Swartzenegger.

Those two round out what I call "form fits function". Basically look like you can fuck. Every male pornstar looks the same...why is that?

3. Fashion. Look good in clothes that fit and pick colors and fashion that is in but your own. Find celebrities that look like you and copy their style.
This includes shoes and accessories.

4. Facial Hair or not. Experiment with this.

5. Hair cut or bald. Experiment with this too.

6. Height enhancement. Taller might be better depends on who you are. I have not really experienced too much change when I wear boots with a slight height enhancement.
I'm not saying you want to be like The Artist Formerly Known As Prince but boots with heels definitely increase height.

7. Arm, Chest and Body Hair. Some guys like me are virtual bears and have tons of hair. So I've recently been using Nair for Men to defoliate.

8. Tanning. This is good to experiment with as well. Just remember that the sun can age a person and some guys are naturally darker than the chicks they're after so keep that in mind. For myself, if I tan too much I tend to look too dark for example. This is if you're a white dude.
9. Makeup. A good toner is ok. Anymore than that, people might start to wonder...

That's pretty much it.

There's not alot you can do about anything else. One good thing that comes out of #1 Weight loss is that the shape of the face can actually change and I've seen some examples of this on the Atkins Bulletin Board site.

I agree with all of this. Good grooming habits are helpful. Working out will make you look and feel better. But, you still have to work o your personality, body language and vocal tone. It's my feeling that these are as important the other things mentioned.

Awesome post, man. I totally agree with all this and found I feel my best when I focus a lot on grooming/exercising. I'd add dental hygiene to the list too. I know my teeth aren't perfect but I definitely feel more confident freshly brushed and when I keep up with a whitening program.

Couple questions for you guys...

I normally have pretty hairy arms and legs too but my job keeps me in a swimming pool a lot so it stays pretty short and I get a lot of comments about it...would you suggest full shaved/naired or just trim to keep it shorter? Only problem I see is I don't want to shave every single day and I don't want a lot of stubble.

What do you guys think about switching fashions? I've kept a really casual (maybe preppy?) type fashion all my life but would like to get out of the logo polos and cargo shorts. Suggestions on how? Trying not to worry about vanity and what others would think, but again, my relaxed college look is what I'm comfortable with but feel like it's time to upgrade a bit.

Appreciate it, guys!

as for fashion make it age appropriate and ok and I know this sounds funny but get a gay guy at a mall boutique to pick out your clothes for you. just straight out tell him you have a date with a ten and you're going for a new look that will make you more sexy, charming, sophisticated.

Ha, I guess that is pretty confusing. I swim and work in a pool about 30 hours a week so the chlorine basically keeps the hair from growing too long. It looks and feels like I shaved my arms a couple days before all the time. That's what I get comments on, whether I shave my arms and legs. It's actually a pretty good segue into conversation about work, which I usually lead into goals and opinions about service to others and such...anyway...fully shaved or just keep it shorter you think?

I like the idea of getting a gay guy to help with fashion. I've thought of just meeting a chick at the mall and having her help, but not sure how into that any chick would be, need to test it still. I think I just need to get out of my comfort zone a bit and try some new styles and see what gets the most reaction from women I'm attracted to. Any thoughts for mid-priced places? Although I've found some awesome stuff at thrift stores and again at expensive boutiques, I usually like middle priced stuff so I don't feel too bad for only wearing it a couple times.
