I've always had an issue with these venues, and Uptown in general. Every single fucking place in Uptown is crowded beyond belief. Idle Rich, Lotus, Tribecca, Republic, Quarter, Social, The Loon. It gets worse when it gets cold because everyone goes inside. Further, I've found the women, and people in general, to be...well how should I put this...err disagreeable. This Saturday night, as a group, we had no less than 3 bullshit altercations with random Uptown fuckasses.
Remember the chick with the broken arm? Yeah, what was that all about? No sooner did we settle the issue with her BF/husband then she went off the handle for NO APPARENT REASON.
Granted, I think Saturday was a bit of an anomaly. But, generally speaking, I have so much disdain for the people that reside in that area.
The interesting thing about Uptown is that you can totally tell the difference between the people that live in the area and the people that are from somewhere else.
The people that are from the area basically refuse to be opened unless they know you...social circle game in that area is hugely important. The people that live somewhere else tend to want to be opened. Funny thing is that I work with a couple of Uptowners and they refer to the people that don't live in the area as the Bridge and Tunnel crowd...basically, people from the 'other side of the tracks.' The more I go there, the more I realize that this way of thinking is relatively systematic in that part of the city.
Every single girl I've closed in Uptown, save for the one that lived 3 minutes away (to which I responded, why don't we just do it here? I mean we're going to walk longer than we'll fuck...hahaha). Everyone, save for one, lived in Addison, Plano, Coppell, Las Colinas, etc, etc. Which has been something that has troubled me...
Lead into a new rant...
I've found that the further away from the city you get, the nicer and more open people tend to be. I'm not talking where you meet them so much as where they live. I've found this to be pretty true of virtually every city I've ever been to...except maybe Austin, the jury's still out on Fort Worth. This isn't to say that there aren't pockets of the city that are pretty solid. For instance, people in Lakewood are pretty kick ass. So are people in the non-ghetto portions of Greenville and Deep Ellum (yes, I understand that these venues are few and far between).
Anyway, the long and short of this, and I apologize for the long post I'm just passionate about this, is that you can tell a lot about a person based on where they live. Actually, this is one of my favorite games to play when I first meet someone. I love, love, love to talk with someone and try to figure out what part of the city they live in. I truly believe you can tell a lot about someone based on where they live. Having said that, I don't judge others based on where they decide to call home. I'm just the kind of person that believes in correlations, they do exist and they help to widdle the world down into manageable pieces.
End rant...
