Martini Park

Describe your DFW's venue experiences and recommendations

I thought somebody had updated this.

What was once Martini Park is now Sambuca 360. I went there in December, and it is the same as Martini Park with a few exceptions. It still has the same layout except the bar in the back is gone and there are more tables. The main area has more tables and the dance floor is smaller. The front bar and patio are still there. They still have the same bands play on the same stage.

When we walked in, we were given a choice of waiting for a table or sitting in the bar area. So it is much less sargeable. You can't just walk around the dining area and sarge. Well, you can... just like you would any other restaurant.

In summary, Sambuca 360 is now like any other restaurant/bar, where the sargeable area is basically the bar area.

I'm going to go ahead and bump this thread up. I figured that would be better than starting a new topic on it.

I headed out to Sambuca 360 with my rooomate located in the shops at legacy in plano last night. This place was kinda uptight. They have a rope and a line you have to wait in to get in. Think of the post office line with the ropes that says line starts here and it goes all the way back to the door. Pretty much the same thing. We had to wait in the line for about 5 min or so (and we were in front of line). Once we get into the place, an employee takes my id, scans it, and says it's a $10 cover. !!!! Seriously. Damn it, I'm about to leave, but my roommate ends up paying my cover. I have this thing against covers, I don't pay em. I don't feel like a place is so awesome that I should have to pay just to step inside, except for live music venues, but that's a different story.

Inside there are a ton of cougars mixed in with some good looking girls. I'd say its about 60-70% cougars. There's a large dance floor in the center, and some seated booths on the outside. There are two bars, one by the dance floor, and one by the entrance. I only tried the one at the entrance, but it took forever to get a drink, and the guy didn't know what beer they had, he had to ask his co worker. Overall, I can't recommend this place. I could see it being good some nights, but the $10 cover is not worth it in my opinion.

I know the cover jilted you. Did it jilt your view as well?

Was the layout good?

Was the atmosphere good? Was everyone in a good mood partying it up?

Was the mixture of females good? Yes, there were cougars, were there plenty of hotties as well?

I hate covers as well but I am getting sick of the same ole same ole uptown has to offer. I am wondering if a cover makes people let loose a little more. They had to pay to get in so buttfuckit they are going to have a good time, drink more, etc.

Sure, the cover probably skewed my view a bit, but the cover is part of the venue, so you have to take that into consideration.

The girls that weren't cougars looked good, there was potential here as long as they weren't old.

The layout consisted of two bars, one in the corner by the entrance and one at the front of the dance floor. The dance floor took up most of the venue, with the exception of the bar (think of loft 610 minus the upstairs, its very similar to that). The traffic flow isn't too bad, you can move around freely if needed.

I'm not sure of the typical loudness of this place since the night I went a cover band was playing, but I had to scream while right next to someone in order for them to hear me.

Atmosphere was good, everyone seemed to be having a good, drunken time.

Finally, someone has seen the light.

I've bitched and moaned and groaned about always going to Uptown. But, what I've discovered is that there are very, very few venues, outside of Uptown, in the city that can support more than 2 or 3 guys at a time.

Personally, your best bet is going to be Knox/Henderson, which is really just Uptown light (but, at least some tatted up ladies are there on occasion), SMU Blvd, Sherlocks in Addison, or Cowboys. Outside of those places, you have to roll in small packs and it's actually preferred if you roll solo.

That's something I forgot to mention. This isn't a place you can roll up to with a group of 6 guys. In my party there was me, another guy, and a girl, and we had to wait a good 5 min or so to get in. If a large group of guys roll up together, you all either won't get in, or you will be waiting for a good amount of time to get in.
