I met this girl using an "I'm an asshole" type of profile ala Style. My opening e-mail was something along the lines of "What's that big pointy thing right above your top lip imp? Nice." We have exchanged several e-mails and have talked on the phone once or twice. I called her on my cell the first time....and then later I blocked my number the next time I called her from my home# telling her she might be a serial killer and I didn't want her to have my home #. This was last week. I went out drinking Saturday and tried to call her on my way home at 2 AM (don't worry, a friend was driving). She didn't answer....and I'm not sure exactly what I said for her voice mail. I talked to her Sunday and she said she fell asleep. She called me twice on Monday night...leaving a voice mail saying I was rude for not calling her. She called again on Tuesday night. I ignored her again. Now, Wednesday night (tonight) I see that she called. No message left. I then checked my e-mail and saw that she sent me a simple text saying "Hey stinker, what's up?" I saw she was online and decided to IM her.

me [12:41 AM]: You just have to look on the positive side of it and not be selfish in a situation like that.

me [12:42 AM]: It sucks for the suvivors because you'll miss that individual. However, if that individual was sick and in a lot of pain......they're not in pain anymore.

me [12:52 AM]: hmmmm....I have a lab on the first day of class. That's the only class I have on Mondays. Sometimes labs don't meet the first week.

me [12:53 AM]: it'll really suck if I get up early, drive all that way, and find out there's no lab that day.

me [12:54 AM]: 10...I think

We IM'd a little bit more then I told her I had to go and that I got up at 8 in the AM for work.

I should also mention that this chick is A LOT younger than I am. I'm not exactly sure if I would feel comfortable nailing this girl. She's 20, I'm uh.....late 30. At one point in our initial phone conversation she asked me if I've ever dated a 20 year old. I said yes (I did when I was near that age and she called me on it!) It turns out, she lives in my smallish unincorporated sub-town and we attend the same school.

I don't do IM, so I can only judge from a conversational point of view.

I think you're doing well. Just keep up the fluff. BUt, you may have missed a chance to get her to your place. She came up with it, so she's thinking about it.

Don't worry about her age. I used to feel this way, but now I just do what I do and if she wants me, who am I to disappoint her? If you read "The Selfish Gene" he lists a few reasons why women would prefer older men.

You know that's interesting, girls don't bring up the age question with me. That may have to do with the fact that I look young. I take good care of myself these days, and it shows. Lots of exercise, veggies, and water. I drink a lot less than I used to. I swear by broccoli, spinach, yogurt, and eggs. Some people hate V8 but it does wonders for your skin. It will make you radiate. That may sound not-so-good for some people, but you can get used to anything. You will crave the things that you eat habitually. So if you stop eating McShits and Taco Rat Hell, then you will stop craving that stuff at 2 am.

I'm probably older than you, but I've been told that I look like I'm in my late 20's. I don't think I do, but the compliment must have some truth in it. I was in Deep Ellum last week and I started walking with three 18-year-old HB10's to look for a club and I didn't have to game them, it just happened naturally. It was great social proof when I walked into that club.

And you're gonna laugh, but I use Nivea men's face products daily and women's Biore products once or twice a month. Those pore strips are a miracle, among Biore's other products. It's a subtle difference but it makes a big impact. People do notice the overall effect. Also little details like shaving the little hairs between your eyebrows and such... I clean up real good.

If it doesn't come up, don't bring up your age. Another thing I learned is to never mention my ex. If the convo really lends itself to it after establishing some comfort, I may say "when I was married." I also refer to my ex as "the mother of my son." This is despite the fact that I'm still friends with my ex-wife. I avoid it as much as possible, though.

More than a year ago, I brought up my divorce during conversastion to a gorgeous, well-dressed girl who came to MY table and sat with me at a club, and she was gone faster than you can say "hopeless case." I learned my lesson.
