My new record

I'm still in the number close stage (hence my nickname), but I nevertheless set a new record tonight.

I hear my phone ring, except it's not my phone. It's in the next room. I hear chatter in the next room about the ringtone, and I go, hey, I have the same ringtone!

D- What?
Me- I have the same ringtone, look come over here, check it out.
[She walks into the room, and it's the first time I see her face. She approaches, with a smile.]
Me- I have the same ringtone, I'm not lying, look, call me.
D- What's the number?
Me-xxx-xxx-xxxx
[She calls. We laugh about it. She leaves the room, and I went ahead and put the number in my phone book as "Girl". ]

From the moment I saw her to the moment I started giving her my digits was probably no more than 5 seconds.

It's interesting, because I was reading earlier that day that women do things in a way that they can back out of it. I had this fresh in my mind, when several hours later, I get a text message: "Who's this." I knew the game she was playing, so I responded, "This is the phone company. You have exceeded your gossip minutes." LOL so it just goes on from there, and eventually she calls. Haven't heard a tender 18-year old voice late at night on the phone for many, many years... it brought flashbacks of late night talks with former girlfriends when I was young, and it was so easy to get pulled in, but I made sure that I maintained my frame.

I think I'm making progress.

Thanks! lol :-) Yeah, I'm particularly proud of that response because it combined my improv training with learning to maintain your own frame.

Excellent. I remember when I first started, I couldn't #-close at all, but when I started getting emails, and then some #-closes. Now I can pretty much get #-closes very easily. Still no f-closes, but I'm working on that.

Congrats.
