Second weekend of Thundercat's bootcamp
Thundercat's bootcamp in his book "Art of Approaching" basically consists of doing 6 approaches a day three times a week for six weeks till you get comfortable with approaching. One key is to have one primary opener, and two backup openers. You simply go in with an opener, get their response, and then eject.
My primary opener is "I need to get a gift for my thirteen year old niece, what do you reccomend." My second is "Do girls snoop around? I have a friend who started dating a girl who took pictures of him with her cell phone camera and sent them to her friends so they could keep an eye on him." My third is .... I know I know..."Who lies more." It's so damn good, opens everything.
On Friday I opened at the gym on UTA campus. Here I used situational openers of "how do you like the machine" or "what type of workout do you like". I opened four sets with this. The first was a UG. Some were pretty decent, one set was with a 9, and she responded very friendly to the opener. One girl I got a cold response from, was only a five too, shot my ego down. I then went to Mavericks in Arlington and opened with my second opener, and started a conversation with a 4 and a 7. But one of their male friends arrived and I was given the cold shoulder soon.
Saturday I went with a couple of friends to Blu Bar in Arlington and to the Library in Ft.Worth. I opened one set in there of mostly fat girls with my second opener. They opened and basically responded with "yeah, that sounds really crazy." That was the basic response I got from every set I opened with that same line. Although it is freaking hard to open in the Library because it is so loud. Lost my voice
. My friends and I then descended upon a small bachelorette party. All the girls were engaged or currently married except for two. But my two friends who each had 9 beers each were getting responses from two girls that weren't. Felt a little bit left out, but then I realized that I need to up my storytelling skills to make me the center of attention.
Today, I went to walmart...wierd, but lots of cuties to practice on there. And ran my first opener. They all gave me the response of a few ideas, or what's your budget, etc. I thanked them and then exited. I think to escalate a little bit I need to go into cocky funny with one of their answers. I seem to do C&F fairly well with girls I meet in classes. In fact for me conversation seems to stall until I go into C&F mode and start calling girls names in a playful way(dork, nerd, etc.) I tease friends and family a lot, so it comes fairly natural to me once I get in the groove.
The most important point thing I need to remember when sarging is the three second rule. For me I am so arrested with fear of social situations that in some cases three seconds has turned into three hours before I approach. I hope to keep up with the bootcamp continually. Another idea I have is to go to another college campus and try and experiment with game there. I went to SMU a couple of weeks ago and then try and be more bold with approaches, like joke approaches and other more direct openers.
