Wassup? This is how it went down.

I visited Barnes and Noble to collect an order i had placed (school stuff) while they got it together i went to surf the isles. At the relaionship and self help section i saw this blonde 9.0 looking at some of Dr Phils stuff (arghh). I casually walked over picked a book and turned to her

me: you seem intelligent (pause)(her blushing) what title would you recommend?
her:(still blushing) wow, i dont know... she starts flipping thru a pile of books she's holding...most of them were do it yourself relationship stuff.
me: those are interesting books you got there.(pause) i like the one with the cartoons.
her:this are not cartoons, silly (a jab on the arm).its a really good book (some relationship for dummies kinda book)
me: tell you what try this book,(i picked up Blink)...its quite insightful as to how we think....yeah mojo i used one of your lines  .At this point she was really into it and she started telling me about her other stuff she's read. We were interrupted by a page for me that my order was ready for pick up.
me:thats for me (the page) i have to go.(pause)it was fun talking to you...(i realized i havent asked for a name)your are fun.whats your name?
her:L...
me:am E.. nice to meet you (firm handshake)listen we will have to continue this some other time.give me your number and i'll hit you some other time.
she took my phone and saved her number then proceeded to dial it so she can save mine on her cell. Said goodbye, picked up my order and left.
I'll be hooking up with her later this week.

Brethren any suggestions on how to improve this, say go to the starbucks lounge for more conversation and stuff?

Excellent in its simplicity... I'll have to try that.

For me one of the first rules of engagement is that I will not leave a set that has not blown me out unless it's on my terms (no attraction on my part or whatever). In this case I would absolutely have blown off whatever I was doing and at least gone for a coffee. I would say you lose 50% by #closing at such an early stage unless you are a model, famous or some other massive DHV. Your phone game is also more limited due to lack of knowledge (I hate phone game anyway).

I love the open... I'll be using it. I also dig the "it's quite insightful as to how we think".

Props on the # close dude, but it's a stairway to heaven. I'm not saying it will flake, but, a # should be a receipt for plans already made.

IMO I would have handled it the same way, BUT, would have started to walk away, body rocked back and then said "Hey, are you done picking out your titles? Why don't you come with me to pick up my order. You can check out your books, and then we can have some coffee and see which ones we like best..."
