Uptown (friday)

Met up with some of you's and then Kit and Parametric and I went to uptown. All in all it was an off night for Kit and I, I can't say the same for Parametric because it was his first time out, and he completed all 3 goals he had set for himself.

I opened two sets only! The first 2 girl set I opened over my shoulder while talking to parametric - personally i like opinion openers so i used one. the girl is like

HER: "you know what this feels like right now? have you ever seen that show about the master pickup artists who pick up girls...where is the camera right now??"

I'm all: "THANKS! like VH1 right? i love that show."

HER: "well, you're good, and i'm still talking to you right so i guess..."

ME: "so how do you all know each other?"

HER: "we're just friends (weird answer for 2 girls) we haven't known each other that long blah blah"

ME: "my ex girlfriend was a psychology major, and i would say..." (was going to cold read but got interrupeted)

HER: "oh, see, but you should NEVER talk about your ex girlfriend"

ME: "so, you actually think I'm trying to pick you up?"

HER: "YEAH (slightly offended), we're at a BAR, you just randomly started talking to us"

blah blah, then it went to something like this:


blah blah the conversation went on a bit longer but then it got to this -

HER: "so do you have friends here or did you come by yourself"

ME - I tap parametric on the back to bring him in to the set.

HER: "it's your wingman! what's your name (to him)"

he leans in and answers, then immediately they blow out to go dance.

SET 2:

Like a 5-set of girls. I'm talking to Kit, then I open over my shoulder with an opinion opener. Only one of the girls can hear it. I talk to her, but she IMMEDIATELY goes in to this mode where she is facing me and somewhat receptive, but COMPLETELY unresponsive. Eyes to the floor, just in this mode where she is shutting down her buying temperature, completely unresponsive. But not a blow out! It was weird. Has that happened to anyone else before, and what's the best way to handle?


Anyway, that set totally killed my state. After that, I didn't have the mojo anymore to go around opening sets - we showed up at Republic a little later but I just wasn't feeling it. It happens. If any of you all have had the experience such as the one above and you know a good way to handle it, please share! That's a first for me.

when a chick tells you she watches the poser vh1 show, why run canned shit from that show on her? I guess its all in delivery.

well, actually dude i didn't run any canned shit from the show on her, i guess i just gave off a player vibe last night. in the second set too, would be my guess. I think both sets boiled down to the girl not wanting to take responsibility for the pickup. But the odd thing is that i never actually hit on them, just the act of talking to them had them thinking i was picking them up.

part of it may have been that we went to uptown and i wasn't dressed for it, i was dressed for addison i suppose. i don't know.

i think showing up in uptown under dressed is teh way to go. You're battling a lot of blow-hards out there. I think its good to not put on the "young professional leased base model 3 series" look.

man to be honest opinion openers aren't the way to go unless you really make it seem spurt of the moment or a really funny question. I mean some guys might run them great, and they are great for starting out if you don't know what else to say but from my experience opinion openers are hard to transition into a real connection conversation. Just my thoughts some guys might do really well with them, so whatever.

maybe I'll give a more natural approach a try tonight. What do you do, just introduce yourself?

I try to have a more natural approach. I honestly do use opinion openers some but usually they are situational opinions and I dont phrase it so rehearsed like "Can I get a quick opinion on something..." I will usually just approach the girl and be like so "Every girl I know that is red head like you is either a vixen and wild or a goodie goodie, which one are you?" It is still like almost an opinion opener but so much better.

Especially since usually they will say naughty and then you can make it like that will take advantage of you or whatever. Situational openers can be like "Isn't it funny how at all the good clubs there is like a line of creepy guys that just stand by the dance floor!" "(look at someone dancing horribly) He is totally your type, or, so do you have awesome moves like that?.. or so on. Flirty opener could be a booty bump "or a did you just grab my ass?" or just anything thats flirty/fun/ or ridiculous. Other openers can be negs like "You are cute, almost as cute as I am!" Or you can just do the "I had to talk to you or I would have been kicking myself later" or the "Hi" or the "I thought you were cute but do you have a good personality too?"

Haha if you haven't noticed theres a million ways you can open a girl I just prefer not to do the whole "Can I get a quick opinion on something" and then follow it up with a random question about junk that doesnt matter.
