AMOGs vs Lavian

I didn't expect to have to use my somewhat limited knowledge of AMOG tactics so early into my game, but I've run into two separate instance of AMOGs. Suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Over the weekend, at a party, the AMOG was trying to game this one girl that I knew that was also my target. Being a fan of Juggler's charisma sciences, I tried talking to him and connecting him. I think he was trying to out-AMOG me by complimenting me on my charisma and my good looks. I complimented him on his obvious bad-boy image with the backwards hat, ripped shirt, and piercings. I asked him if he had any tattoos of barbed wire or roses. He looked me over for a second and turned away to continue gaming my target.

Since it was a party, I moved around to talk to different groups and different people. The AMOG comes up to me and asks me for my cowboy hat. He doesn't tell me why, but I immediately pick up that he's trying to gift it to my target. No way I was going to let this jackhole use me. "What are you going to do with two hats man? You've got a pretty cool one already."

"Just give me your hat."

"Hell no man, I like me hat."

I had given another hat of mine to a wing. The AMOG goes over to him and asks the wing for his hat. My wing catches on. "Hey Lavian, do I have permission to give this hat to AMOG?"

"No way man. Dude likes my hats. However, YOU are more than welcome to give my hat to the target." My wing smiles. He's an AFC after my target too. I kind of feel bad for out-gaming him. The AMOG looked kind of angry that he had been foiled, but I just moved on to have fun with the party. I got the k-close later with the target, so I'm pretty sure I foiled up his game enough with the target.

I went to a birthday party. This AMOG was a little more subtle than the other. I'd be in the middle of a story or a trick and he'd sneak in to make snide comments that cut my legs out from under me. I don't know why, but it really irked me to the point where I lost control of my emotions for a split second and blew my control over the conversation and the situation. The AMOG correctly viewed me as a threat, but he was too much of a creep to be able to seal the deal with the girl. (He kept mentioning his penis. I wondered aloud if it could do tricks.)

After the day's events were done, it's AMOGs 1, Lavian 1. Especially in the case of the second AMOG, what can I do differently to ensure this comes out in my favor?
