The Scientist and myself are hanging out at the pool at the village and a mother and daughter put their towels down and sit near us. I use the restroom, and when I get back, he's talking to them. I sit down, and find out that they're from Chicago, and shes here to start SMU law school in august.

Well, seeing as shes from Chicago,as am I, I ask early on "Cubs or Sox?" And follow that up with " choose you answer carefully, if you get it wrong, we are soo not friends. In fact, youd be fired." She says Cubs. Thats good. Its like asking a new yorker, yankees or mets.

We get into a conversation about Chicago, Dallas, and some of the differences. Theres a lot to talk about. Except for some C&F I dont need any routines on this one to keep it interisting.

It starts to rain while The Scientist is getting a beer from the pool bar, and they are about to leave. I'm not passing this up, so I ask the girl HBChi-town the wonderful line"its been a pleasure meeting you, is there any way we can continue this conversation?" This while her Mom in standing right there. Not a word from Mom as we exchange numbers.

I was super psyched about that. Finesse and myself had wondered at the mall a while ago, how to number close or sarge a girl when shes with her mom. My conclusion is that you run it like a normal 2 set, and pay attention to Mom too, and more so at first. Mom knows your there to talk to her daughter, and unless you mess it up, she wont get in the way.

Approaching a girl with her mom present demonstrates confidence, IMO.

Fathers on the other hand, can be quite the cockblock.

That would be interesting as hell. I wonder if there are some good techniques for disarming fathers. Westfall, I nominate you to help research this!

Funny enough I've never ever been in a situation with a father and daughter...

I wonder if thats a reflection of my targets, as in I notice father daughter and don't approach... Thats food for thought.

ANyway i suspect the key would be to befriend the father and direct most of the conversation to him, once you've won him over as a "father figure" then the daughter should be easy...

He may even help you pull it off, if he really likes you.

Though this is only theory.

I completely agree that befriending the father would be helpful, but I wonder if it wouldn't kill your chances with daughter... you have no way of knowing if she would ever date someone her father likes.

If she loves daddy, it would probably help you. If she hates daddy, she'd go pickup that mohawk sporting wino across the street to spite him, right in front of both of you.

working at a small outdoors store i had a hb8 walk in saturday wearing a emmit smith jersey. i welcomed them and specifically asked emmitt how she was doing. i recieved a cute reply but that was immediatly followed by the 200+ lb lady behind her informing me "emmitts my daugher" in a stern be careful voice. game over. the mom mustve been wanting the love too, but alls well bc it wouldve been to wierd to wake up with daughter knowing she couldve kicked twice my weight's ass on a teeter totter in 18 years...
