Blackfinn Arlington 9/10/09

Went to Blackfinn Arlington.

Approached a girl sitting by herself playing with her phone, fluff talked for like 5-10 minutes. Her friends came in and we hadn't exchanged names yet so couldn't think of a graceful way to introduce. Ejected. Kept leaning in (bad!) cause I couldn't hear what she was saying.

Attempted a couple other approaches which went nowhere.

I suck at this. I need a bootcamp or something but unless I win the lottery that ain't happening.

When I can't hear someone, I'll verbalize or motion that I can't hear them, and wave them to come closer to my ear.

Yeah, this is a bad habit, as soon as I start feeling the slightest bit awkward, I tend to eject. And I feel awkward a lot.

So? :) It's your head that's telling you it's an issue. It's actually not. Try it.

And yeah, staying in is hard. Ejecting for tactical reasons is one thing, but you need to learn not to eject because it's awkward.

You're missing the point man. If you say that, you are now officially teasing her. It's completely and totally expected that she does not know your name, so make a joke out of that fact.
