FR: Downtown Fort Worth on Haloween
Posted: Tue Nov 04, 2008 2:43 pm Ok, this is going to be a long post so bear with me. I’m going to do my best to make it as neat as I can. The whole night started with me feeling bummed that I knew of no parties to go to. My friends were either working or unavailable, so I had planned to just stay in.
I get a call from my friend Josh who is off and bored at home. His girlfriend is a bartender at Embargo in downtown so he’ll be stuck at home giving out candy. I tell him lets go out around 10 and say hi to her. Josh agrees and our night of fun really begins.
So background check I’m wearing a costume I’m very unsure of. I have a white t-shirt on that says, “Spank my monkey, 25 cents†and there is a stuffed monkey on my shoulder stuck with Velcro. One of two things would happen; I would look like a fool wearing it and I’d become a wall flower or I could use it as a great opener. I was in a great frame last night. We arrive around 10:15, and it’s pretty slow. Free drinks are in order since his GF is bartending so were chilling. I walk with a swagger, smiling and saying hi to everyone. The owner is there and we hit it off great. I see two girls across the bar but my friend and I are in a conversation so I don’t go over.
I notice 5 minutes later that they have moved to directly behind me so I bump into them purposely. We turn; laugh and they love my outfit. I make a real effort to keep them both engaged in the set. One little neg, “You can dress her up but you can’t take her anywhereâ€. Got a great response from her friend about that. She totally agreed with me. So I told them I was about to leave and number closed them. What I learned from this approach: always keep the group involved, if a friend comes by to see what your doing don’t ignore them just introduce, and finally once you get the number exit immediately.
My friends and I leave about 15 minutes later and head over to Rick O Shea’s on Houston St. I text the target:
“You still owe me a quarter. =)â€
“Haha Ill pay up. But you have to tell me where you got the shirt.â€
“Ok. I’ll be outside Bar 9 in 15. Meet me thereâ€
The girls arrive a little late and go inside. Very crowded bar upstairs. I offer to buy the first round. In retrospect I don’t think I’ll do this next time because here’s what happened. I turn my back to get the bartenders attention for 20 seconds and they are being hit on by a guy. I immediately laugh and introduce myself to him which scares him away. I turn around again and boom another guy walks up. This one is an AMOG. Turns out he was on the backelorette or some show like that because the girls were so excited to see him. It felt great that they walked by him after we got our drinks one each of my arms. We go downstairs and somehow find a seat. I DHV. I use my skydive story and talk about travel. Then I ask if they wanted to dance and the target says her friend wants to. So I get up and dance. As I dance an old friend stops me and says hi. I see I’m losing my set so quick intro to the girls and one picture. Its going downhill from here because they see two guys and are greeted by hugs. They introduce me and I decide to make my exit. Before I do though I make sure to hint at plans with the target next week. On my way out another girl hands me her number for no reason. My social value was super high that night.
I go back to Rick O Shea’s and drink with my friends telling them of my exploits. After an hour of this we head back to Embargo. There I see another two-set at the bar. Instant approach with my costume, then I roll into a neg because they aren’t wearing any costumes. Number close my target and then procede to get wasted in celebration of the night.
So if you skipped to the end because this is a long FR let me just tell you what I learned needs to be worked on. I need help with kino escalation, isolation, and getting them to not flake. I called the first number yesterday and left a message. I called the last number today and left a message. Overall though, this was the best and most successful night of sarging I’ve ever had and I owe a lot of that to people like Vector and other friends in the community.
