Quasi-DayGames at the Galleria

Postby Guest » Fri Jun 06, 2008 11:00 am

Me and my buddy (needed to check his handle as well as his stance on anonymity, though this particular post is all kudos to him) met on Tuesday at noon at Barnes & Nobles to go through some fashion magazines as prep works to get me better packaged, and decided impromptu to crash the Galleria to check out some fashion stores in person. As it turned out, not only was he able to provide me with an incredible eye-opener on fashion, but being the natural and competitive pua, he opened a number of sets quite elegantly. First we were inside Macy's and he opened a cologne salesgirl with long, curly blonde hair. He opened her very confidently and within a minute threw in a few DHVs and negs to make her self-conscious (love the statement "tell me why I should buy this brand - and DON'T you talk like a salesperson" ;) He's gamed there quite a bit before and befriended all the other staff members, old and young, and was able to pull the advantage on this new hired-gun with threads hinting "you aren't doing enough to win me over - the lady behind you is my read friend, and then wave to that lady". Kinda analogous to bar & club scenes - know thy crew, and they'll come in handy as social-proof. He over-negged her a bit though, and apparently didn't offer enough comfort (it was tough, with me watching silently, with customers coming in & out, and with her supervisor staring from a distance - I got the feeling she was too self-conscious and perhaps a little creeped out). So we ejected after a few minutes of fun and proceeded to shopping.

We opened a couple more sets before catching sight of this really chic clothes store (forget the name) - dimly lit, blaring music, a ton of perfume, and a mixed three employee-set (two really hot girls) greeting us at the door. My friend jumped in without hesitation and amongst other things complimented the guy for being socially competent (and he was, well-deserved). The music was loud and I couldn't hear much, but from the body language the girls were without a doubt enjoying it. A big part of the convo centered on the unique design of the store itself, and we were genuinely interested in finding it out. That's another aspect of day-games - land on a topic you WANT to explore more.

One other girl he gamed was a chick working at the cologne/lipsticks/mascaret section. He didn't use any product-related thread at all - he simply walked up and stated with a mini-cold read "you know, you looked bored out of your mind", and she admitted and said she was so bored she could've killed herself. His connection with the place was utilized once again as he mentioned knowing three girls working there on other shifts and how this new one "looks interesting but not cool enough in comparison". Great tactic - she had to concur because there's no way for her to bad-mouth her colleagues, and in effect she DLVed herself and DHVed my buddy. Connection on top of existing connections - sweet. Another short interaction took place outside a clothing store when girl A was behind the shopping windows trying to fit in some dresses while her friend B assesses from outside. We just walked up to B, and my buddy quickly got B laugh, and turned a surprised A into a fembot by having her move & spin with hand-gestures as if to help her with trying on each item. Great social-proof (A to B - "how does he get my friend giggle?" - and B to A "oh dear he's controlling my friend without EVER saying a word"), great compliance test, great times.

A final set we gamed for fun was a cute black girl with LARGE eyes and long, starry eye-lashes. He jumped in commenting on her eyes, and we also entertained and won over her much-older female colleague. They tried to guess my friend's ethnicity (IOI, and he's Egyptian), and also carried the question over on me ("are you Chinese?"), which I played twisted "no way, can't you see I'm also Egyptian? Just more of the Pharaoh type"). I performed a nerdy DHV by guessing her origin (had an accent - foreign; looks white - "are you German?" target:"she ain't from Germany but she's sure got German blood" "OK, Eastern Europe?" negative "South America" nod; she's white and part German, so "Argentina", no, then "Paraguay", yes! "Asuncion" of course, and DHV completed). A final comic was tossed when I stated "I'll stop there and not state on which street you were raised. We may just catch you on Google-earth".

Fun times, and we weren't even really gaming 'cause the focus was to pick some fashion clothes for me! No closes (blame on me for watching most of the time like a mute puppet), and give the time constraint it was impossible to spend more than just a few minutes on any given set. Nonetheless it was mind-blowing to witness his natural quick-wit and suaveness tuned into such efficiency with experience. Take-home lessons: open everyone to get in-state and gain social-proof, own the place by befriending the personel, be confident and well-groomed (man he has piercing eyes & an enigmatic semi-smile, so train your facial muscles in front of a mirror), practice practice practice, and have fun.

Oh yeah, I'll follow up with a reply once I find out his handle and get his waiver-form signed. ;)

Hahaha... I told you to give me an unbiased field report and NOT to shove your tongue up the arse of your host for the afternoon.

Oh Taj.... I appreciate the kind words, and yes, I neg too much. What can I say? I'm an asshole! Seriously, I HAVE to start toning it down.

You did well on that last set btw. If anything, they were into you more than they were me. I was proud that you stole my spotlight, though I live to be the center of the universe.

You're well on your way to becoming an Awesome-O 5000!
