I get the age thing in just about every single set. I'm 30 but I look like i'm maybe.. um.. 19 haha.
They always ask, and I always make them guess. Sometimes they get close but I usually don't hear guesses higher than 26 or 27. I'll tell them I'm 30 and then after I get her age I'll say, "You know, I've noticed women change a lot between 20 and 30. Some change younger and some change older but there's this transition, and it usually happens between 20 and 30. Before the transition, they're little girls, who don't really know what they want in life, they're sorta lost, they care way too much what their friends think, they're flaky, etc. but after the transition, they have found themselves, they know what they want, they have their shit together, they don't really care about what people think, and they are adults. Since you're 24, I'd say there's about a 70 percent chance you haven't gone through that transition yet."
This is one of my favorite routines. There are a couple other optional clauses I'll throw in sometimes. For instance, "if a woman gets married at 17 and divorced at 19, she will usually be very mature for her age."
I am qualifying her, provoking her to contradict my expectation that she's immature. At the same time, by describing characteristics I am looking for, I imply things about myself even though I'm not talking about myself at all. And I am actually screening her, so if she flunks the maturity thing I'll let her go.
