Hot Chick at the Pool

Premise:
I just got back from the pool at my building where it is a pleasantly hot but nice clear day. I live in a huge apartment complex that has a really big community pool in the middle of multiple buildings, and since I am at school during the night I usually go out there a few times a week. I noticed a really hot chick walk in (which is not uncommon). So I decided not to be a pussy and go talk to her. I ended up crashing and burning, but learned a valuable lesson in the processes.


Analysis:
So I was just out there getting some sun and would periodically go in the water to cool off. I notice the HB9 was doing the same thing so I thought to my self I would watch her and when she got in I would go in and talk to her. Then I deiced that that was a bad idea and was not going to make the mistake of “chasing” her into the pool. I watched her carefully and got in a few minuets before she was likely to and I was right on! She got in a few minuets after me and smiled at me and I opened with “hey how’s it going today” (always a good preliminary opener in my book). She said she was fine, and for the real opener I said “you must be a student if you are not at work this time of day.” I was right. She was a law student just like me but at a different school close to my school.

We talked about school and a bunch of other fluffery and she said that she would be back (meaning back to the pool) after she got hot again. She got out and I got out a second later and went back to my stuff. About 10 minuets later she was back at the steps of the pool and I decided I was going to walk by as if I was leaving and strike up another conversation. She actually engaged me first saying “are you leaving” and I said yea and then we talk some more BS. I wanted to do I cold read on her and I guessed her as a Catholic as she was dark skinned and looked either Hispanic or Italian (obviously a catholic). I was right and even got so far as to say “you seem like you must be a catholic but not a practicing one. You seem more of a spiritual person” I was dead on!

I was doing so well but then I crashed and burned. I had a fear that she might go back to her seat soon so I rushed into a number close. She almost gave it to me but I think that I looked nervous (as I was very nervous for some reason. Probably because I was rushing) so she just said well how about we just see each other at the pool. FuCK!!!!! Normally I could counter with a neg like “wow I’m not trying to bang you , I just want to be friends,” and sometimes that will get the number, but I knew I had fucked up big time so I just retreated. I hate my self for that because I was doing so good, and she was really Hot But I blew it in a few different ways.

Conclusion:
First of all, I was not warmed up. I had not psyched myself up to sarge this very attractive chick and I know that I came off as not confident and nervous (which is usually not a problem for me). Secondly, I rushed big time to the Number close (and to the cold read for that matter). Third I did not neg her at all. I always neg really hot girls right off the bat, but I just could not think of anything! She was just sitting in her bathing suit and her and her hot body mesmerized me back into AFC land.

I called my Wing when I got back and he said I should have just told her she had “Pointy elbows.” This probably would have worked fine, but I was not prepared. I get the AFC award of the day guys. What pisses me off is that I came off a great weekend where I landed a 10 (read the FR for that one here (http://dallaspua.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1235). The positive thing is that I learned a really valuable lesson. I should have just slow played her and left and tried on a day when I was ready for it. She Goes there often and lives in my building. There would be other chances. Any thoughts on Damage Control would be appreciated. Damn! - ULTRA

Don't be so hard on yourself, it sounds like you did very well.

I can't say for sure since I wasn't there, but when you ask for her number she will consider your interaction so far and (either consciously or subconsciously) evaluate why you are interested in her. If your "fluff" is just small talk about the weather or something non-personal, then she will assume you only like her physically, or that you ask lots of girls and are rolling the dice so to speak. You need to at some point discover something unusual about her and appreciate it. She needs to feel your interest is justified.

I don't think you needed to neg. I have talked about my philosophy on negs in other threads so I won't repeat it here.

I don't get why you would ask for her number at all. She is staying at the same buildings, right? Establish a connection with her where you are both just having fun hanging out. This is now an instadate. When the natural time comes venue change but pop into your place on the way. Anchor her while she is in your territory. etc...

As a general rule I will never ask for a number - always wait for her. Usually it doesn't take them that long. Her time constraint will also cause her to #close if necessary.

All good advice. I agree that I should have not even asked for her number at all. later that night I went out with some buddies and had a masterful sarge on a chick that they all brought along so it made me feel better. Thanks for advice - ULTRA
