I was late for work and starving. Traffic was insane on central for a Friday night. I called my boss to say I may be late and offered to pick up some dinner for her. She declined but said she had no problem picking something up so I hit the Chipotle on Lemon. As I walked in, there was a girl at the front door using mini binoculars. Weird, I though but ok, why not. I walked past her and got in line. I didn't want to waste time, I was already late for work. I was sporting my new avatar, a mashup of late 60's mod and early 70's disco. The new avatar rocks by the way and I was getting opened all night, but I digress.
HB binoculars gets in line behind me. I nod at her while waiting, she smiles back. It's a short line so I only have to wait for 2 people. She opens by talking about the cold outside. I smile, friendly weather response. She opened me, she's interested. I fluff, do a quick DJV about working at a ballroom place. She takes the hook. Talks about how she's a great dancer.. blah blah. I tell her I don't dance, I work the door. I tell her she should come by sometime, I know the door guy. Conversation thread drops, gotta order my burrito. I get it to go and a big drink. She catches up with me at the soda fountain and reengages. We fluff talk. I do some basic elbow kino. She talks about hanging with her friends tonight. I assume she's inviting me to hang. I turn her down, I have to go talk to some artist friends because I may be opening a gallery in January. She asks for my number. I give her my card. I have my soda, my burrito and I'm good to go. I introduce myself, She does too. She offers her number. I say sure, I'll take it. She starts running frantically around looking for a pen. She tries to write her name on my to go bag, I tell her to write it on the back of one of my cards. Bam, number closed an HB8 buying a burrito at Chipotle. I shake her hand and say it was great to meet her and calmly walk out to my car with burrito and Drink in hand.
I get in my car and drop frame. Giddy as a school girl and call everyone I can think of about the Pick up. Sometimes everything just goes your way.
Now comes the mountain. I have never converted a number close. (see my other post)
