Earlier this week I was at a club, and the place was dead. So dead that the cutest waitress in the place came and sat w/ me pass the time (I had invited her to do so earlier when she asked what I wanted to drink). Our conversation was OK, but I could have done a lot better. We found some things in common and I did get her to laugh.
Anyway, I went to find her before I left and asked if I could get her number so we could hang out soon. She got that familiar uneasy look on her face and said "probably not."
me: It's just to hang out... no pressure or anything.
her: *pause* ...well OK.
me: Cool, I'll put your number in my phone.
her: Just make sure you spell my name right.
[She has an uncommon spelling of a common name, but I recited the correct spelling to her. Thank goodness for name tags.]
I'm calling this a "soft" number b/c she didn't seem enthusiastic at first but she did ultimately give the number.
So what's my best move here? We got along well but there was hesitation to give me the digits. Should I drop by to see her again before using the number? It's not going to be convenient for me to be a regular at her club, so I can't warm her up to me over a long period of time.
All useful help is appreciated.
