Events and Adventures - Beware of Scams

Hey Guys,
Tribulus here. I wrote an email to one of our friends on this topic and I decided to write a post on it so you guys can be warned.

There's a radio ad for a social club called events and adventures. www.eventsandadventures.com.

They're basically a social club for single people and they do all sorts of activities.
But...after I had an interview with them, I had a chance to think about it and do some internet research, I decided it was bad.

It sounds good on the surface, meet quality women and men in a fun environment like someone's house, or out bowling or out at dinner. Cool stuff.

Sounds like you pay for a social circle.

But then they want you to sign up and commit for a year. $1695. So $1700 bucks for an events calendar.

And who knows what the women look like?
Who knows if they're duds or if they're cool or what?
Are the events fun? They seemed to be. Alot of cheap/no cost stuff seemed to be the majority although the guy who "interviewed" me talked about a trip to Hawaii that seemed affordable. Almost too good at $1500 with air roundtrip. I find that hard to believe.

The interview was slick car salesman. He used Sales NLP on me.
We did a "personality test" (cold read), he had me qualify, and sat me down and elicited values from me on what was important for me and my dating life.
Then reiterated it back what I said.

I also caught what sounded like a lie. He said he had just moved here but then he talked about how he had lots of "friends at church". Incongruence on that one.
He's trying to fit into the world of the people he sells to. Its an obvious tactic.

At the end he was flabbergasted that I did not want to join on the spot.

I said it would be good to go to an event and see for myself. He did not offer anything.

Oh and they give a $300 credit if you sign up on your first visit.

Does this seem like a scam?

So when I got home, I did some reseach on them. And I found out that alot of people were unhappy with their events and the quality of people at the events.
And the high pressure sales approach was one of their complaints.

Also a few years ago, I joined an organization called "Ultimate Singles". And they had events as well as matching services. Many times I would talk to girls about how I thought it was a ripoff and they said the same.

So I told the guy that I had heard the "pitch" before and I was not going to buy his product/service.

I think I made the right choice.

Yes. Definately a scam, IMO.

Almost as bad as those timeshares....

Those guys are fun to fuck with though. I went to one onetime with my gf. What they do is get the woman all emotionally wanting the overpriced crap, and then try to get the guy to feel like he's not a man if he doesn't buy his crap for his girl.

"She really likes this, don't you want to make your girl happy?"

Next time I get a girlfriend, we're going to specfically fuck with these guys (you get a free whatever if you listen to their sales pitch). I'd love to see how those guys respond to my westfalliness.

i have no social circle, since i moved to dallas. thats my problem

i know a few people that i could hang out with but some dont appeal to me and others live far away. it seems like dallas and other metro areas that are spread out are more conducive to fairweather friends unless you want to joint a cliquie

i had my chances to join a group but at the time i was an alcoholic and im not partial to scenesters anyway

bottom line i guess is: moved to dallas, was an alcoholic, didnt know what i wanted in life and spent too much time with 1 girl in perticular, i work with people who are much older than myself and a lot of them are shit talkers anyway

plus i am trying to start a few side businesses after work

such has been the death of my social life in dallas, i think im about ready to change that

neuromancer, you seem to like the same type of music i do, are there any good shows coming here soon? i havent been to one since i saw detroit cobras at the gypsy

i like vnv nation

im pretty diverse but my roots are in punk and hardcore

for a while i was (and i guess i still am) getting into synth pop, vnv nation depeche mode, i always was a fan of the faint (although i wouldnt call them synth pop and i hate using genres to describe stuff anyway) and other stuff that was a little more socially acceptable to play on my clock radio at work... still occasionally rocked black flag, murder city devils or embrace at low volume from time to time

now i wear my ipod and listen to what i want

i wonder what kind of crowd goes to a vnv nation show
