Peacocking - Dressing to stand out, or to have an item of clothing or an accessory that looks interesting, allowing the girl to comment on it if she is interested in starting a conversation with you.

========================================================================================

This does not mean wear some crazy article of clothing, ten rings, a top hat, orange vest, and five ear rings. Obviously do what works for you and if you can pull of a flamboyant costume then by all means do this but for most of us that cannot or feel uncomfortable doing this need to be reasonable.

Peacock by doing what the term means, wear something, clothes, or an accessory that makes you look interesting and allows a girl to engage you and comment to start a easy conversation so YOU can be percieved unique and different, Individual.

My personal style is very smooth, and Classy (as I was told, Thank you, you know who you are) in my personal opinion and unique, there are others that are the same concept but different clothing but IT WORKS.

We have all heard this but I have to stress this again, ED HARDY, AFFLICTION, and Clothing similar with tattoo designs, rhinestones, and sparkling foil is NOT unique. This is GENERIC and I strongly recommend staying away from this look because every guy in bars, clubs, public, everywhere is wearing this.

Just my view on Peacocking.

I don't understand your opinion on peacocking. I agree that it's a good idea to wear something different so that a woman has something to talk about if she wants to start a conversation. But I disagree that wearing a conversation starter itself is peacocking. I'm not clear about whether this is what you were saying.

In my opinion, peacocking is wearing something so different or unusual that you stand out and draw attention to yourself. It has to be something that communicates that you are cool enough to stand up to social pressure, that you can handle compliments and insults, that you are relaxed when you have the spotlight on you, etc. Like the peacock's tail, it's a fitness indicator that has some cost involved but shows that you have superior genes. Humans are unlike other animals in that creativity, sense of humor, social skills, compassion, and leadership are desired genetic traits for sexual selection by females. Theoretically, peacocking is a costly ornamental display that shows you have those genetic traits.

Wearing a nice ring or stylish shoes is great. But peacocking is something entirely different. Most guys in the community don't peacock.

What im saying is that wearing a nice article that stands out is Peacocking but you dont have to over do this with crazy off the clothing. If a ring stands out and gets attention then its peacocking, if shoes do then its peacocking, but you dont have to peacock your whole outfit is all Im saying. I agree with your opinion though, sorry about posting in the wrong section.

The whole point of peacocking is to give women an easy way to open you. An interesting belt buckle IS peacocking. As well as a cool ring or shoes or even a great haircut. It could also be a fantastic tie, cuff links or money clip. It's all peacocking.

Do you consider this peacocking then? Smooth and classy was pretty main stream in the past, but I suppose these days it would be considered "different."

This weekend, quite a few women either opened or brought up very early in the conversation on Gamble's shirt. It was simple, just a graphic tee from Original Penguin, and something I generally wouldn't consider peacocking. But it got results. I've always thought of it as something much more pronounced though...

Similarly, I had some comments on that felt button down I wore on Friday despite opening a minimal amount of sets. In my eyes, that was not peacocking either, however, it sparked more conversation then the shirt I wore Saturday(a striped white button down, very standard, no comments despite opening many more sets).

Personally, finding my own sense of style is a major point I am trying to work on. My natural inclination is to go with the norm and dress like all the others. I've never really had the desire or comfort to define my own style and stick out. You guys calling me on my foil shirt was a refreshing awakening. I wouldn't have thought twice about it otherwise!

I owe my style to RockStar because when I first met him, I was dressed like a chode. Hell, I probably was still a chode, but RockStar's just too sweet to say so. :) :) But anyway, he told me to go after a new look, and I went with it. So far, lots of compliments...
