The recent drama has reminded me of something I learned on my RSD bootcamp about AMOGing. If anyone ever insults you how you react to it can be either a DHV or a DLV.
Suppose someone says "wow dude, that is one fucked up shirt." How would you react? By letting it get to you and walk off in a huff? By starting a fight? Both of these reactions would be DLVs.
The best way to handle an insult is by assuming it's a joke. When you do this it actually becomes a joke! And not just to you, but to everyone around including the person trying to insult you. Here's an example;
AMOG: Wow dude, that is one fucked up shirt.
PUA: (smiling) Yeah, I love it! I found it in a second hand store across town. They have tons of great old clothes.
Big DHV. This guy is confident and has high self esteem.
This can also work the other way around. You can actually turn a complement into an insult.
AMOG: Dude! That is a great shirt!
Chode: What's wrong with it?
You can smell the insecurity on that guy. DLV big time.
The way you interpret what someone says has a huge impact on it's meaning to those around you.
