I was at Barnes and Noble and opened a girl up in the cafe section while I was on my computer with "Do you know any good place in Dallas for nightlife" and she said "that sounds like a pickup line." I said "it's not." I know just saying that was not a good way to respond and I was calm and did not change my expression. What would you do?

This is a shit test. She's trying to accuse you of picking her up thereby raising her social value. Just laugh a little and tell her she's not your type.

nice! i'll try that. mine a little longer.

shit tests are just frame struggles. what she really meant was 'are you man enough to handle me being difficult?' you could just ignore her and continue what your saying so she would be the socially akward one if she calls you out on it ala cap'n jack

you could agree 'yep. but you havn't quite won me over just yet...do you cook?' and go direct stealing her frame. ala tyler d.

you could completly blow her out :D this is my fav! 'jeezus what the fuck is wrong with people!? i'm sorry i have a girlfriend i was just asking for help kiddo...your cute though. i could introduce you to some nice guys i know. what where we talking about?' completly reversing the frame.

so in the end i guess she's just testing if you'll hesitate. remember control that frame control the interaction and she will follow.

Good advice Rockstar. I was thinking a lot of that last night when I posted my reply, but I was too tired to put it into words.

Distract her with your backstory (which you're always prepared with), plow on

"Me and my buddy were at x bar last week and the crowd was x. Im trying to get to know the nightlife here in town, I can tell by looking at you you're probably kind of a homebody (cold read based on whatever she's wearing, her jewelry, whatever she's reading) but maybe have a wild side, so you're probably one of those x club type girls or you like x bar"

Time bridge her ass to any place she mentions

Just read the rest, this is essentially what Rockstar mentions as well

Also DT a favorite opener for the scenario you describe is to ask their opinion of something over on my laptop to build up some compliance, then show them like a poem or music that Im allegedly working on (sometimes copied from somewhere else on the net), or some silly web video, and get their opinion on it. Segue into a cold read or whatever other comfort stuff you have after
