I was at Barnes and Noble and opened a girl up in the cafe section while I was on my computer with "Do you know any good place in Dallas for nightlife" and she said "that sounds like a pickup line." I said "it's not." I know just saying that was not a good way to respond and I was calm and did not change my expression. What would you do?

Im trying to get to know the nightlife here in town, I can tell by looking at you you're probably kind of a homebody (cold read based on whatever she's wearing, her jewelry, whatever she's reading) but maybe have a wild side, so you're probably one of those x club type girls or you like x bar"

Also DT a favorite opener for the scenario you describe is to ask their opinion of something over on my laptop to build up some compliance, then show them like a poem or music that Im allegedly working on (sometimes copied from somewhere else on the net), or some silly web video, and get their opinion on it. Segue into a cold read or whatever other comfort stuff you have after
