Mental Rehearsal, Its Just Like When and Old Field Reports

Guys,

Here's #2 in my Series on the Use of Old Field Reports.

Well, I want to start off by talking about sticking points. Those are those nasty impasses guys encounter in the "field" when talking to women and interacting in the real world.

A Sticking point is a constraint on the system that stops a guy from getting laid.

Eli Goldratt wrote a book (I have the audio version) called "The Goal". In that book he describes how constraints or "bottlenecks" as they are sometimes referred will determine the output of a business or system.

In science, we call this the "rate limiting step". Enzymatic reactions are a good example.

I highly recommend Goldratt's book (or audiobook).

This is where my old friend Captain Jack adapted his theory of Sticking Point Analysis; which I believe is one of the best posts ever written.

In that post, CJ describes how to change yourself through a kind of behavioral theory of constraints by using fixes and changing the gameplan.

CJ himself later commented that many many of his lays were the result of this post and his new thinking on sticking points.

He also did a Youtube video on the subject.

Not many people followed his work on this subject after that. My personal thought on this is that he was mainly talking to an audiance of MM-intelectuals, business people and successful PUAs.

In other words, CJ gave out tons of theory with little practical application to the guy who works a regular job and lives a regular life who wants to get laid a little more.

Theory is good. But theory should be followed up with practice, practice, practice.

Let's talk about old field reports and memories....and I'll tie all this stuff together with a big bow.

If you've been out in the field, you'll do this and that. You might even get laid a few times. You'll run routines and sometimes you won't. (When I say "you", I'm talking in general.)

In general, you'll have good nights and bad nights. You'll be out with friends, you'll go out alone. You'll have nights where you work a bunch of sets and ones where you can't even talk to anyone.
Some nights will be great, others will be so-so. And other times you'll learn something cool.

This is a fact of PUA life.

So if you go home and you make note of what happened or actually write a field report, you'll have a record of that event.

We've all read FR's of guys where the FR goes well or they have a bad night or they get laid. So what?

Its Just Like When
I'm going to introduce you to a concept I caught onto most accidentally a few years ago.

Its actually NLP but my use of it is for PUAs.

I call it "Its Just Like When"

In this case, we are going to be using it for inner game and mental rehearsal for busting sticking points and creating a mental card file for use in appropriate circumstances.

Let's take a common sticking point as an example. Remember that when you do this FOR REAL, you'll want to pull examples and sticking points FROM YOUR LIFE, so don't think this example is meant to be some kind of way of curing your specific problem.

Let's take Amogging, just as an example...

Sticking Point: Amogging
Let's say I go out three nights in a row and I do maybe 6 sets...its ok to have low numbers of sets to work with.

set#1. I talk to a chick for 5 minutes and some dude comes up and says "Hi Stacy...its me Gonzo." and they started talking. And I finally gave up and walked away.
set #3 I'm with a two set and I'm running the Bad Ass Kid routine and some guy interrupts me. He tells the girls that he'll buy them a drink and he talks to them and I get frustrated again. And I leave.
set#5 I'm out with a friend and my friend and I are talking to two girls and their friend Cathy and some asshole named Jason just happens to come in and they turn all their attention to him and my friend and I walk away thinking "those bitches".

(*If this resembles your life, it is pure coincidence, ok. I made this up. If this is your life, kick that guy Jason in the cock for me!)

So the sticking point is getting amogged. That's because some jackass guy is stealing all my girls and I'm left there hanging and that shit should not be happening!

What do we do with "Its Just Like When"? How do we use the technique?

I search in my old field reports or my memory for times when I outgunned a guy.

I search in my mind for times when I came into a set and the guy went walking away.

I search for times when I handled the girls and got their attention centered on me.

* Its important to keep this personal. This is something YOU DID.*
* This is FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE*

"Its Just like When...." I amogged a guy.
"Its just like when...." I got those girls attention back.
"Its just like when...." I talked alot and loud and the guy walked away.

This is what NLP calls first position, associated. And the "just like when" 's are actual mental Strategies.

So we have three or more memories of when you amogged a guy. We now have three or more strategies that we can run as FIXES for the sticking point.

Now we just go in and mentally rehearse those fixes. Mentally, we step through what happened where the sticking point came up and then we implement the fix by superimposing the "Its Just Like When" moment onto the mental scene.

Walla....

We have a fix for our sticking points.

Its important to capture as much mental imagery and feelings as you can when you do this.
Merging the two mental scenes should also "feel right" and have no "what happens if I do that and it doesn't work" kinda feeling, which is why we chose 3 or more fixes.

Carry on.

Tribulus.

p.s. You can also make this into a Swish Pattern if you like by bringing the "Its Just Like When" Fix clearer, brighter, bigger, etc. than the time when the sticking point came up.

p.s.s. Another way to really cement the change is to use as many senses as you can to see, feel, smell, taste, hear the rehearsed fix. (credit Win Wenger)

Good post Trib. I like where you are going with this stuff.
