I'm really starting to think that to be good at anything, you have to get over yourself and not be afraid of being, or looking like a fool when starting out.

I went to Tijuana Bar and Grill tonight for Salsa lessons. I'm a sober white guy trying to learn to dance. Hilarity ensues. The lesson was shorter than I expected by far, but for free what do you want. Next time I will try Mambo Cafe. theres in an hour and a half Fri and Sat. The one tonight was seriously like 20 minutes at most.

Yes I looked dumb trying to learn tonight. No big deal. So did a bunch of other people. But wait for the day when I get good and can go to a Latin club and clean house. It will happen, I assure you

I just had a flashback of the first time I danced salsa. It can be intimidating.
I'm glad you plowed through that shit. Once you get the hang of it. things will flow for you.

And since we're in the "not afraid to look like a fool" note. It is very important to you as a guy to lead the girl. I know you're just beginning so this won't come into play until later but when you get there, remember it.
It is common for guys (especially beginners) to kind of just expect the girls to do moves. Kind of like when you just stand there and girls grind you and "put on the moves" on you. When you dance salsa, she still gets to put on her moves but only when and where you want her to. You lead the whole way.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that guys initially don't lead because they're afraid of looking like fools for not nowing so much as all the other guys around.
Now that I read back my words I realized it. It's just like sarging. Be confident even when you only know a few moves and bring her into your frame.
