ok sorry i had to vent about this from a recent discussing with an HB. Does anyone else get the feeling that the new generation of teens and 20 somethings are growing up with this emo revolution that seems to come across as a bunch of little bitches. I cant tell you how many songs i have listened to that i wanted to reach out and pimp slap the artist for being such a Beta. Im sorry you cant deal with your girl who left you but stop bitching about it through your sad excuse for a song.

I actually love this type of music. Radiohead's Creep & Sulk are two of my favorite. It is not "beta" (whatever that means) to have/relate to the emotions in these types of songs.
I want you to notice
when I'm not around
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special

Yeah, those read like beta lyrics to me. Perhaps, WF, you need a dose of a few alpha lyrics to understand the contrast.
“In the morning don’t say you love me,
Couse I’ll only kick you out of the door,
I know your name is Rita couse your perfume smelling sweeter,
Since when I saw you down on the floor,
Won’t need too much persuading,
I don’t mean to sound degrading,
But with a face like that you got nothing to laugh about,
Red lips, hair and fingernails,
I hear you’re a mean old Jezebel,
Let’s go up stairs and read my tarot cards.”
From “Stay With Me” by Rod Stewart.

I know some people don't listen to alot of rap on here, BUT
I think the african american community as a whole has this whole alpha male thing in lock.... here are some recent lyrics from the Plies album New Testement - 1 Mo' Time.
I know you caught me cheating
and you tired of me lyin
Imma be honest with you baby
I know I crossed tha line
If you dont wanna f**k with me no mo than cool it's fine
but before you go baby
Can we f**k one more time
[Verse 1]
I know I f**ked up and sorry aint
what you wanna here but i cant change
that shit dog it is what it is.
you can go f**k another nigga if thats how you feel
if thats goin to make you feel better than gone do it hell you asked me about this lil petty
shit and i kept it real, know that shit probably hard for you to swallow still I aint know how
bad i hurt you til' I seen ya tears I aint asking you to accept how a nigga live, if you feel
like another nigga can treat you better, than it is what it is. but let the truth be told its
been my pussy for years. now you got all ya lil home girls up in ya ear just lets f**k one more
time before you dip

She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
It wears me out, it wears me out
It wears me out, it wears me out
If I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted all the time

More pussy lyrics. He's crying about not being good enough for her.
This is alpha:
I make a rich woman beg
I'll make a good woman steal
I'll make an old woman blush
And make a young woman squeal

I agree the urban scence has the alpha thing down. That's why there's the popular notion black men having more game. See also Mike Jones...
Mike Jones-U Feel Good
You need a dick? That feel like a prisoner out on parole
when it's hard on swoll its 24K gold
I'm Mike Jones (Who?) Mike Jones, Jones
That'll beat you back up whenever you act up
I'm lookin for a sex pet to break me off
and work on this hard dick until my shit get soft
I need a girl that think she bad, love to talk trash
But whine when I'm fuckin her fast
I never claim the pussy mine cause it ain't mine to claim
but for some reason when I'm in it, they be screamin my name
See your pussy, I'll please that
Believe me, I'll please that
Them orgasms that you need, you'll recieve that
Fuckin with Mike Jones, just pick up your home phone
I'll fuck you so good that you can't even walk, can't even talk
Mike Jones, just call and I'll come over
Dickin ya down, holdin ya back, grippin ya shoulders, it's over

heh I'm in this generation you speak of. At my highschool there were emos everywhere. The emo movement I think is very bad for these kids because at the time they should be shaping their beliefs in themselves the normal emo beliefs that I saw were that you were nothing, you can't accept yourself for who you are. I watched as it turned one of my cool girl friends into an emotional wreck. When you surround yourself with people who are overly dramatic, and emotional about life at least some of that will rub off on you. Having a whole nation of interconnected people like this connected through liking similar music couldn't be good for your mind. Women are meant to be somewhat emotional. That's a feminine trait, but the emo guys are what I really saw as a problem. Men are supposed to be more stable emotionally. Able to calm womens drama, and neutralize it. Yet these men following the emo movement are becoming more and more emotional, more and more feminine each and every day.
As far as the music I seriously doubt it's the problem. Music has always been a form of emotional expression since it was ever invented. It is a way to vent our emotions. A way to let them go through the physical act of writing them on a piece of paper and singing them into the air.

I'm pretty sure that a major motivating factor for many of these emo kids is to get laid, and I'm sure it works on the kind of girls they are trying to attract. There is such a thing as being too masculine, you know.
Only a few years ago, I was at a dead-end hanging out with the boys. They were my drinking buddies, and so we spent many a Friday and Saturday night doing guy things. Mostly this did not include women, but when it did, their approach was essentially to drink lots of beer and brag. This never really worked, and because I was the least masculine of the bunch, they often used to amog me to DHV themselves, which never really worked out in their favor.
Basically, even before I knew about the community, I realized had to distance myself from this bunch as much as I possibly could if I ever wanted to get girls. Whatever they did, I essentially did the oppisite. Even before I knew about the community, I started improving the way i dressed, and they all thought I looked like a fag, but women were responding positively. Soon I realized that even if I wasn't getting laid (yet) I was hanging out with a higher caliber of women than they were. I remember one of them, a poorly dressed slob, making fun of my tight pants to impress some girls, and the girls ended up defending me.
The way I see it, you shouldn't be a doormat, and you shouldn't be so sensitive and needy that you can't walk away from a girl/relationship when need be. But being uber-macho like my friends were comes off as too try-hard.
