PUAs - What helped you most to get past your hurdles?

Postby Maver1ck » Fri Aug 31, 2007 11:05 pm

All the accomplished PUA guys,

I want to know as a newbie,

what helped you most to get past your hurdles to become the master that you are?

Any innergame stuff? any mentors? any books? any friends? anything in particular?

Anything and all?

I would welcome all the input! might help me a lot!

First of all, I'm going to disqualify myself a little from your post and say that I don't count myself as an accomplished PUA. I can relate to where you're at more, but I have started getting results - three bar makeouts in the last two weeks, a lay last weekend, revisited her this week, and I have a D2 that's ready to go tomorrow afternoon. Prior to that I had 2 lays (actually many lays from 2 women - over a 4 month span) that I attribute to what I learned from PU materials, but wasn't hanging with any PUA guys.

Here's what I did ...
(1) I started going to community events. I met guys there to hang with and learned a little too.
(2) To address approach anxiety I started to say "hey, how's it going?" to attractive women I passed in the day-to-day and even most people in general. You get a sense of timing for interactions as well as get over any silly idea that somebody will shun you - haven't been shunned yet ... just a few flat responses (which I now realize means they're like I was less than a year ago).
(3) I've added 25 lbs lean muscle mass. If you think it doesn't make a difference then read
http://www.jbspencer.com/djb/Downloads/The%20Book%20of%20Pook.pdf - "What Every Skinny Guy Should Know" - page 32. Don't just go to the gym. Find out about diets for adding mass and do it. Some hot coworkers are suddenly commenting on my body in the break room and offering to introduce me to girl friends in the same conversation (was not happening). Some of the older dudes suddenly ask how much ass I'm pulling (giving me a lot of credit) and are inviting me to hang.
(4) Go out. I go out Fridays, Saturdays, and other occasions that won't fuck up my job.

I've read a lot of pickup stuff and could have done better spending that time socializing - even just walking around public places and forcing myself to say anything to people.

OK. That's not star advice and I hope some people with more experience offer you that. Good luck!
Treat 'em rough and get the muff.

If you haven't already done it, buy Mystery's book, read it and go into the field and try it out. Do not try to get laid! That comes later. Just talk to people and have fun.

I can't tell you how much fun it is to tell a HB "hands off" and see the look on her face. It's priceless!

When I first started I recall acting like I was Jack Nicholson. Just putting that “I am cooler than the universe” smile on and everywhere I went I was just checking up on my kingdom, making sure things were going ok. Everyone is always going to be excited to talk to you, because you are Jack Nicholson, they may try to hide it but you know the truth. Once I stopped trying to think of lines and comebacks and realized that no matter what I said it would be awesome, because I am Jack Nicholson, everything just fell into place for me. I enjoy reading the books and watching programs just because I like understanding the psychology behind the interactions, but the core truth is you come preprogrammed to know what to do. Just find that part of yourself, for me it is my internal Jack Nicholson, let it take over and enjoy the ride.

Couple things that helped me; Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, the audio program Your Right to Be Rich (this is a collection of lectures by Napoleon Hill) and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Those are the three main things that taught me how to control what I think and how to control my emotional state. Good shit.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge. It is those who know little, and not those who know much, who so positively assert this or that; and that problem will never be solved by science.
