Frame Control seems to be the big concepts in everything we do. Frame control consists of reframing and setting frames.
Frame control sets into motion commands that people follow almost robotically.
In the post by Brad P, the frame he took both with a girl coming over to talk to two other girls was 'you don't need to come talk to them in order to get my attention' and later with the brother he used the two other girls as a way to get rid of the brother.
He said 'Hey those two are in the bathroom, when they come out, then that's your chance. I'm going to occupy your sister so you can talk to them. I think they like you' or something similar which framed his sister as 'getting in the way'.
So in his mind and very quickly, he assessed:
- The brother likes the two girls.
- His sister is open.
- I need to isolate her away from him.
- The best frame scenario would be 'Those two like you. Go after them while I talk to your sister... who, by the way, will not be in your way since she's with me (your buddy)'.
This seems appropriate framing. It seems like it is precision framing.
Swinggcat uses framing too but he uses it to support the idea that she is chasing him.
Many of his ideas implicate this metaframe as he calls it.
However, some of his ways of doing it are a little off. They are like shotgun approaches.
For example, he says to implicate the metaframe by framing her as 'creepy'. Now this may work at times but other times it may make her mad or create a situation where you are now fighting her.
Precision Framing seems more appropriate.
With the brother in the example, he saw that his attention was rivetted on two attractive girls.
So he used this with the frame of 'those girls like you, go talk to them' as his command.
It would also be interesting to use imbedded NLP commands inside Framing.
Mystery will also reframe the target when he tells her : "You are too classy for this place. And you're the leader of your group. I like that."
Which now sends a precision framing to her that she follows.
When her friend comes to take her away, she will stay because she is the leader. And will not act strange or do rude things because she's classy.
Two books by Michael Hall are about the only information available on the subject of reframing. They are: Frame Games and Mind Lines.
Both of these books are difficult to read.
There are about 20 different ways described in Mind Lines to refame an interaction. My hat's off to you if you can read this book and be able to use it.
The two main ways of reframing are:
Context Reframing and Content Reframing.
Context changes the context of the frame and Content changes the content.
Example: Rudolf the red nosed raindeer was useful to Santa in the dark night of winter. Otherwise, Rudolf was a freakshow.
This is a context reframe.
A content reframe is taking something and changing the content.
Girl: "I hate your hat."
PUA: "No you don't. You're attracted to me."
Frame control with content.
Other common ones are "Reflexive To Listener" Reframes.
For example "Why don't you have a girl friend?"
PUA: "The better question is 'Why don't YOU have a boyfriend and why are you in this bar?'
Another is Storying or Re-Storying.
"Why don't you have a girlfriend?"
"The last time I was in Boston, a friend of mine was there and we went out and got drunk off our asses. And my frined actually got laid but he said he couldn't remember it. Isn't that weird?"
Another is simply the frame.
"You're a player"
(silence)
Remember that you don't have to answer any question.
I'll post Sinn's Frame Control Post after this one on the main board.
