Hey All, hope everyone had a great New Years! I know I did!

I would like some opinions on everyones favorite venue or activity for a 1st date.
Ive been doing dinner and drinks thing for a while now and I'm wanting to shake things up a bit without dropping Benjamins :) I'm sure there are alot of things out there to do that I have never even considered, and I figured if anyone had any clue, I'm sure the best ideas would come from this Lair.

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Take her to a park or a children's playground after dark. Bring booze and goof off on the monkey bars and slide with her.

There have been two "go to" first dates that have worked extremely well for me.

1. Ask them out for hot chocalate (perfect for when it's cold out), coffee or tea and dessert. It's not as formal as dinner so there's little to no pressure. If the date sucks, then you tell her you've gotta run and you've only wasted 1-2 hours (if that) of your day.

If it goes well, you can bounce to a bar for adult beverages. I try to set this up late in the evening (8 or 9pm), because as charming as I am, I know the date will go well ;p. Once at the bar, I game as usual and try to take her back to my place, if logistics and the vibe is there.

Try to take to places near bars as well. Starbucks on mckinney and allen, starbucks at west village, la medelines on Lemmon, etc.

2. amazing burgers at a hole-in-the wall followed by drinks. This is different than the typical dinner and drinks. Taking them to this burger joint called Maple and Motor (off of Maple st) in the ghetto demonstrates value Because you know of cool and unique places--it's not like the boring restaurants they're used to. Not to mention they have awesome burgers and dublin dr. Pepper on tap. Then I bounce them to a dive bar called the Grapevine right down the street (kind of in the ghetto) for Bellini's made with everclear (they taste awesome I might add!).

The grapevine has an awesome patio with a basketball court--once again a dhv. It's not something they're used to. It's fun, unique, different. Drunken basketball is entertaining as hell...

Caveat: the bar is a gay friendly establishment, so you may get hit on a couple of times...

Those are my go to day twos, especially the burger and drinks routine. I also want to take a girl to an indoor rock climbing gym. It seems like it'd be fun date and a great way to dhv (physically fit, teach her something, risktaker, etc).

A couple times I have needed to go to the mall to pickup some stuff, so I asked em to come along and help me pick some stuff up. I like this because there are a ton of stores in the mall. There is stuff all around you that you can do to make it fun, plenty of props around you to talk about, and interact with. And if all is going well, you can pop into a restaurant like p.f. changs or something and grab some alcoholic drinks. Or just bounce to a bar down the street. By this time you have bounced from store to store to store to bar, so the comfort should pretty much be taken care of at this point.

Oh ya, and I have to remind you guys, do not pay for any of her shit.

I took a girl to the Dallas World Aquarium and had a blast. I think it was $15 bucks a piece tho. She acted like a little girl and I chased her around teaching her about the animals. Lots of chances for kino. I had bad gas that day so I could let it out and blame it on the critters. worked great. :o

I want to take a chic to speed zone some time. Get on the slick track and bang on her backside all night long. ;)

You might look into the Dallas Arboretum???

I took a chick to LaGrange in Deep Ellum. It's right across the street from Trees. They have live music and alcoholic snow cones. When you get cold from the snow cones, walk a block to Cafe Brazil for hot chocolate (or do it the other way around).

I like the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff. There are a couple of cool places to have a drink, a soda store with hundreds of different kinds of soda, and a really cool art gallery that stays open late. There's a Cafe Brazil there too.

You guys are Awesome!!! Thanks for all the suggestions!!! I'm totally digging the hot chocolate idea and bouncing from there. Things to think about in the future.

I'm going to run thru the motions and take my date to Primos tonight and then bounce to the Quarter bar. Boring I know but I already made plans...

Gloria's seems to have happy hour at all times on their Margaritas. For a whopping $3 each it only takes a couple to feel extremely good. That is the cheapest date other than Hot Chocolate.

You can bounce from the new one in Uptown over to quite a few bars in walking distance if the date is going well. You will only need one more drink at any other bar so your total tab should be remotely cheap for the evening.

Dive bars work the best. It shows you know the city and it gives you tons of value.

Stay away from Uptown for a day2. It makes you seem boring, bland, and just another dude from Uptown.

Meet them in Uptown, then show them parts of the city they've most likely NEVER seen.

Slip Inn for a little bump and grind
Barcadia to play old ass video games while you're drunk as shit
ANY Cafe Brazil for a late dinner or early breakfast (I recommend that you do not sit next to any one eating chips)
Beauty Bar to watch the dykes in action
S4 to watch the fags in action
The Lodge if she likes watching the dykes in action
Alligator Cafe for the best cajun food in the city
The Hotel Belmont for one of the best views of the city + drinks, hey, maybe stay the night in one of their boutique rooms...whatev
The Daiquri Barn in the Fashion District...grab a few tacos from Fuel City, jet over to the barn and find a parking lot to enjoy your grub and sugary booze
Target...say you have to go shopping then fart around in there for a few hours

My recommendation? Change plans with her. GET OUT OF UPTOWN. If this is an Uptown girl, that part of the city gives her power. Take it away. Take her to places she doesn't go. Being led into the unknown by a man is the HOTTEST thing you can do for a woman.

I took a chick to Speedzone last night. It was her idea. I wouldn't recommend it, although I know you race so it might be more of a DHV for you. I ended up spending about $60 there, and she bought the food and drinks.

I bounced her to Dave & Buster's, which is right down the street, to play pool and have another drink. I find pool to be a relatively inexpensive activity that provides a lot of down time to game and allows me to get competitive and make the stakes sexual (although I always say if I win she has to clean out my garage).
