Online Game Problems

Postby Guest » Wed Dec 08, 2010 9:27 am

So I've been working the match.com site pretty hard. Statistics are definately not in my favor at this point.. 30 emails sent out over 5 days, 2 responses.

I've really worked hard to refine my profile, and I think my pics are hurting, not helping. Do you guys have professional pics made for these things?

The second thing is with the two that did respond. I blew myself out on one of them. I start over thinking the cocky/funny thing and self destruct when my message comes across wrong.

With the other one, I kept asking myself if I would be creeped out by my email and the answer is no, but got zip response after the first email exchange. It is extremely hard to calibrate these messages online and I am feeling a bit discouraged by this.

So a few questions:
- What is your response rate with online game? Mine is running about 1 in 15.

- Do you have your pics done professionally?

- It seems that when I blow it on an email exchange, I'm just not calibrating my message correctly. Do you guys have any type of formula or structure to your emails after the initial email volley?

My response rate depends on how I sourced them.

Here's the break down:

They viewed me first: 30-35%
They winked at me: 90-95%
They emailed me first: 95-100%
I was flagged as an interest/favorite: 80-85%
I found them first and sent them an email: 20-25%

I also get, on average, one wink or email a day. Depends on the time of the year. Lately, I've gotten more winks/emails and when the New Year arrives I'll get even more.

As for pics, none of mine are professionally done. Don't do that man, just don't. I have one of me looking at the camera but the picture is tilted, one of me hanging from a tree for a photo shoot of a calender I was in, one of me riding a mechanical bull, one of me riding a child's carousel, one of me running in the Jailbreak covered in mud, one of me dressed as a zombie, one of me all dressed up for a Christmas party (three piece suit, dark purple shirt, red skinny tie, and fedora), one of me looking away from the camera smirking at something, and a few others of random things. All of my pics only have me in them, save for one.

As you can see, my pictures project a fun, active guy which is what I am and my profile backs that up. To know which ones to put up there, go to HotorNot.com and post it up there and let users rate it. The ones with the best rating should be used and the best should be your primary photo.

As for email volleys, the goal is to only exchange two or three. It's not uncommon for a girl to respond to the first one but not the second. I've found that the more playful you are the more your response rate increases. Being cocky/funny view email is really hard to pull off. For example, a girl asked me what I did this weekend. I told her that I was held prisoner by the White Rock Marathon and the gustapo blocked off all the streets in my neighborhood so I stayed in most of the day Sunday...now, my sock drawer is organized, my floors are clean, and DVDs/books/CDs are arranged in alphabetical order. Then, I asked her for her number, this was after my 2 - 3rd volley. Nothing cocky/funny in that exchange, just playful and fun.

I'd say my response rate on match is probably 30pct if I contacted them first. And probably 90-95pct if they contacted me first thru a wink/email/DailyTop 5 interest.

No my pics are not professional. I would think that would be very gay and come across as trying way too hard. Most of my pics show me doing something fun that involves boating, motorcycling, or racing which I am big into.

I don't use any specific formula other than try to pick out what they are looking for and capitalize on it. I try to do a quick psycho-analysis from their profile to "get in their head" so I know what makes them click.

I too have noticed a lot more traffic on match lately. Guess its mating season again!
