Let’s take this to another place. Suppose you wanted to learn to play guitar (or tennis it doesn’t matter, whatever). It also has an “inner game” aspect. How would you master it?

By mastering your outer game!

Every time you open a set, you learn. The more you do it the faster you learn.

Confidence comes from competence.

It also helps to be confident about your abilities in an area unrelated to pickup, so if you're having a rough night out you can say "At least I have ___ to do tomorrow, and I'm awesome at that." instead of "I'm a fuckup."

this is true, the better you get the more confidence you have, you can't suck ass at something and then worry about your "inner game" ,just get fuckin good and you will be straight
