Notice that several of the concepts we rely on but are scoffed by pretty much all of the people outside the community are mentioned in the article.

Hmm, interesting article. I do love how the author makes fun of pick-up, if they only knew...

Having said that, I wonder how much truth there is the the name part. I know that some have mentioned that calling themselves by a "cooler" name yeilded better results (and I guess having a nerdy name could have a negative effect) but I don't think it plays that big of a roll...
