Slight Problem

I have num closed 3 girls and 2 of them(the two I was interested in) flaked. The other one was an obstacle for my wing and I just kinda threw the num close gambit out there to see who would take the bait and the obstacle took the bait and I have since LJBFed her. She isn't hot.
But, I am proud of myself nonetheless. 3 num closes in like a week and a half.
Before this I had NEVER asked for a girls number, I just kinda deemed it too hard or was too scared to do it or in my ex gfs case they gave it to me.
My general knowledge is to after I num close her text her something along the lines of "Hey dork!" so she will have my num; did that with all 3 girls and was 3 for 3 on responses.
On my first num close I screwed up and texted her WAY too much on the first day, or at least that's what I think, but again no experience with the subject on my end.
Here is what happened to the best of my memory:

Me: Hey Sea Princess! (I gave her the nickname sea princess because her name was Ariel and girls like disney movies so yeah)
Her: Lol. Hey. Was it your birthday or your friends next weekend... I guess I wasn't paying to much attention. (obvious IOD lol, but it was my first num close, I was on cloud nine I did not care, but I realized that I need to make sure my target is a little more invested in our interaction in future sets)
Me: Obviously not!!! It's mine
Here I do not remember if she replied or not

Me: Hey whats up?
Her: I just got off work!!
Me: Lucky!!! I wish I worked during the day! I am on my way to work :(
No response from her.

No response from her, and I realise where I went wrong here. No need to critique me on this one lol

I called her. She was at work. I said ok ttyl. Then I texted her.
Me: Hey call me when you get off
No call.
I took this as her third strike.
Three strikes you're out.
I was through with her.

That is it to the best of my recollection.
Feedback on that is welcomed.
Now for my questions.
1. [b]To text or call?[/b] My friend says girls in college like texting better, which is understandable because they are always texting. My natural brother says he never texts girls; always call, it's more personal. Also understandable. Here's some background on my phone game:
My ex is the only girl that is not family that I have talked to on the phone before my first num close girl and I sucked at it. Got better at having normal conversations towards the end of our relationship. I think I can hold my own on the phone with a girl now, just not for more than 7 minutes lol.

2. [b]When should I text or call?[/b] Besides the obvious text right after you get num. I have heard two days, I have heard next day. Maybe there is no right answer to this question. Maybe I should just go with Style's "Wait as long as you can wait but not so long to where the girl has forgotten about you", but that's about calling not texting.

3. [b]If texting, what is a good solid text to reopen with that will get her talking to me?[/b]

About questions 3 and 4: I am not doing pure Mystery Method. I really do not have a guru. I just go and talk to the girl. Get to know her. Reward her answering my questions by answering them with the same amount of info about me. Tell her she is fun and has a good energy and ask for number in a witty way. The whole initial interaction for me so far takes about 3-4 minutes max. I am doing day game. I am busy. She is busy. I don't have the time to waste 25 minutes on a girl that I am just meeting.

the first girl was into you with the first message, it was longer, and girls just don't text long messages to people they don't like.... its like a rule or something. You misread into it.

Second, keep an eye on the length of your messages vs. the length of theirs. as a general rule, if you can help it you want to keep the lengths the same. 4 words vs 4 words or 5. Experiment with it and see how it works for you.

Third, you dont have the time to waste 25 minutes? Try 10 at the most unless you can pull right then.

This has been rehashed over and over, and searching the forum will yeild more results, (BTW we need to add this to the collaboration) To help from flaking, Set up the date before you leave, you should have a reason to call or text her besides "we are gonna hang out sometime".

Day gaming is almost always a number, unless you can pick out the ones who will put out immediatly. Focus on attraction seeding, making a plan, and try and get her to flirt with you, I.E. twirl hair, hit you, laugh at stupid jokes,.... if you can get her to exhibit some sign that she's interested other than standing there talking to you then you sould be able to minimize flaking.

Congrats on getting the digits. I wouldn't worry about your flake rate, its pretty typical for where you are at in the game. Hell it still happens after you've been at it for a while.

Search for "text message game" and there are some good examples for dialogue.

Your text game definitely needs some help!
A few things that stood out:
-Work isn't exactly a "fun" topic to talk about! You should have redirected that.

-Not sure why you texted Hummingbird girl and then right away told her you would text her later. WTF?

-The"hey, I am bored" comment didn't help your cause. Girls want you to entertain them, not them entertain you! You should have told her something like you were hot air ballooning above the golden triangle in a hurricane and you had a few minutes to chat.....or something ridiculous.

A: Depends on the girl. Ask her if she is a textaholic or not! If she is, then tell her you won the "Texas Texting Championship" last year. I usually send a few humorous text messages and get a little game going to help build attraction then call them and set up a date. Most girls are impressed when you finally do call. I like to use texting as bait and then when they finally do get a call from me they are thrilled.

2. When should I text or call?
A: After I get a number I'll usually text them a day or two later. Don't get in any hurry, its just another girl. They are a dime a dozen.

I usually rub one out during the call! Yeah start out with a little fluff fluff. Tell her a little about yourself then ask about her. Next tell her you'd like to continue this conversation over drinks on Friday and have her meet you at a predetermined venue.

I don't really like phone or text games...so I've tried to really strengthen the attraction, send one text message the next day, then another complex text the next week so I get a convoluted response and then call and get that shit lined up and out of the way for D2. Its just easier for me.

btw, I totally fucked that up last night so I'll quit giving advice.

Oddly enough, I usually text girls right away, and if I don't tell them I'm going to text them the next day, I'll wait 3 (a la Swingers.) My friend and I have tested this, and 3 days seems to be a magic number for this. I hate calling, sometimes they're busy, and I leave crappy messages, so I pretty much always text.

No matter what happens, just remember how easy it is to get a girl's number. You've gotten 3 in a week! When I first started out, I was getting MAYBE 3 a month, so... now I'm jealous.

If you want to put that number to good use, then you need an activity planned to call her. If I don't feel the SNL coming then I don't even ask for the # without an activity lined-up that night.

I managed to line up a waitress today because its my last night in town and she's going to waste part of saturday with me in the mountains, under a tree, with a bottle of wine. That's how you # close, not some "hey I'm bored and a weirdo you just met in a bar who knows nothing about you and is calling you for the same reason every guy calls you...because you're hot."
