I'd say its a compliance test. In your case, she is trying to figure you out, like what level of attraction are you at for her. No big deal, just don't be eager to do these types of things early on. If your relationship progresses, do a little, after time, do a little more, etc.

If you feel like going above and beyond, socialize with someone else while she's gone and until she shows up again. Then introduce your new friend. It will make it appear that you are not so easy a catch, or that at least you are a social butterfly.

I like the buy me a drink when you get back thing. This is something I've gotten a lot from topless dancers. Often times they will have $400 to $500 in that purse! I've always said sure.

After thinking a little, I've gone the full monty with about a third of the chicks that have done this to me. So, I guess I'm doing the right thing.

I don't know about topless dancers, but for regular girls, you're probably reading too much into it. She's not locking you in, and she's not tooling you. Watch her purse (she won't wander off) and build the trust. It's too small a thing for me to suddenly demand payment. But it depends what kind of persona you're projecting, and how you ask.

For her to leave her purse with you implies youve already gained a certain amount of trust/ rapport. She could easily take it with her to the bathroom, it couldnt be that difficult. Moreover she knows that when she gets back, you still will be there.

Leaving a purse with you is a female form of anchoring and as such is, in my opinion, a big early IOI. The act implies TRUST and this is a fundamental step on the emotional ride to pussyville. It's actually quite common after you gain comfort and she hears the call of nature.

Depending on how the sarge is progressing I might reward this behaviour, co-anchor her with something in return, neg her, ignore it, make a witty retort, etc.. It would all depend on the situation.

The key though is to recognize the emotion she is conveying and adjust your tactics accordingly. As soon as this happens to me, if I didn't already know, I can immediately assume trust from that point forward. 15 - Love.

Personally, I think this is a shit test, and a big one at that. Why the hell couldn't she take her purse with her? You are not her little gaurd dog. I would absolutely refuse to watch her purse and would bust on her for even asking me to do so.

If you sit by and wait for her, you're going to lose attraction, IMO.
