**this is being typed on my phone so im not going to bother checking much of anything as far as editing it, fyi**

theres been alot of talk recently about different styles of game. namely a "natural style" where there is talk about being ones self and such. and while everytime i have seen a post urging someone to "just be yourself" what i see people doing is choosing not to recognize that people are here because they dont like their current selves.

a natural game is formed was a person realizes that they need to establish an identity, namely a more attractive version of who they are. or were before the game. that is the true meaning behind "natural". you cant use what you dont have, so if youre funny, be funny, if youre smart then be smart. they key to game is recognition of social norms, being able to recognize ioi's and being able to pump attraction. and that brings me to the community.

theres also been alot of talk about the community and how much of it is filled with delinquents and social misfits.

um, duh.

thats what the community is set up for. the community is FOR social misfits. for the outcasted types. the problem is that being "alpha" means ruling your tribe so our pride and dignity are tied to this community.

a king of the nerds is still a king and thus has the mentality of such.

anybody that is involved with the community should be as helpful as possble whenever attending community events. there shouldnt be any thoughts of sarging solo at community events because community events are there to help the people that attend. if you dont want people from the community to screw your sets, then go sarge someplace where the community doesnt go, i.e. sherlocks and cabana, dukes in bedford.

also if your disdain for the community messing your sets gets too big, you should just leave. if you start to dispise the community then do us who want to stay in it a favor, and leave..

the community is here for help and should be used as such. you cant change something you cant see in yourself, thats the main reason the community is here.

my add is kicking in... but this pretty much ends my rant..

im not the best but an outside view is always good, for the first 5 people to PM me interested in it, i will do a consult with them, i will give my unbiased opinion on them the way they come across to me. unabridged. i will answer any questions you may have and offer ideas on how to fix your sticking points.

in closing, guys lets try and put our egos aside and let this community be what it was meant for. a place to help the people in it. not a place to tear them down regardless of the skill levels involved.

I wrote a blog post back in April that talked about how "natural" game bugs me. It was directed primarily at a trend I saw among the paid instructors who were hawking "natural" game.

[blockquote]It bugs the hell out of me when people talk about teaching Natural game. Because 'Natural' describes not a style of game, but rather how a person comes to learn to be good at game.

A Natural arrives at it through experiences in childhood and adolescence and perhaps some through talking to friends and maybe even a little reading about dating. But the Natural primarily comes to it not via the community or being taught.

To teach Natural Game is an oxymoron. Natural Game is not taught, by definition.

Nor does it really make sense for "Natural game" to mean "the style of game that Naturals have" because Naturals have lots of different styles. Some are flashy with money and symbols, some are physically built or socially dominant, and some lie through their teeth and make promises they never intend to keep. Plenty of Naturals are assholes that nobody wants to be around.

Some people wish they were Naturals. It's to be expected. I think the reason is pride. A Natural doesn't have to suffer the embarassment of looking outside for help in dating.

Natural game is not a bad thing try to sell. If you're selling Natural game, then everything else must be unnatural. And even though I'm following the instructions from an expert to do things I don't normally do, Natural game should feel natural to me. And we all know (and envy) how everything is effortless and magical with true Naturals. I'd love to awaken the inner Natural in me, because I want it to be effortless with me too.

Bullshit. Just goes to show if you choose words carefully you can own the frame.[/blockquote]
As for the community in Dallas, I try to keep it method-neutral and tolerant of different styles. Different people have different things they need, and different things they want to try. There is a huge difference between Mystery and Asian Playboy and Juggler, and they are not all equally well suited to any individual. Lots of people will swear up and down that one method is THE BEST or THE ONLY way to go about something, and it might be entirely true that it's the best or only thing that works... for them. Some people do well solo. I don't.

It becomes a problem when people start disparaging other methods. Either because they don't work for them, or for some other reason. Worst I would say is to disparage essentially "all methods other than what I do." If that's the case, then you're in conflict with a method-neutral, tolerant atmosphere, and that's a major disservice for those who might gain from some method other than yours.

When I say 'just be yourself,' what I'm saying is that you need to be that guy on the outside that you know you are on the inside.

Here's my thinking:

Everyone has their own personal James Bond living in their head. This is the guy that you want to be, the guy that you truly are meant to be. But, along the way something happened that prevented you from showing the world this guy. Why? Well, generally being your own 'James Bond' means that you have to constantly be taking a bit of a risk. You can play it 'safe' and be meek and mild, fly under the radar, and gain social acceptance by not being recognized. Or, you can make sure you're heard. And be the guy that sometimes rocks the boat. You have strength, an opinion, a voice. Inherently the louder you speak, the taller you stand, the more you'll find people that dislike you. You'll also notice that more people like you. However, the effects of being disliked is so much stronger than the benefits of being liked. Therefore, you keep that 'James Bond' buried deep inside and you live a life of safety.

Everyone suffers, or overcomes, this dynamic.

People inherently know and understand their problems. The things they need to work on. The things that want to be different. When it comes to issues of the mind, we're the only ones that really have the answer because we're the only ones that hear what our mind is saying to us. Even if we don't want to hear. We can't effectively turn off that dynamic that tells us were we are going wrong, what needs to be different, and what we want to change. You can ignore it, for a while. But, eventually those things that bother you find a way of peek out their head and you have to deal with them sooner or later. Why not make it sooner?

To solve internal problems, keep in mind that I know my problems better than you do (note that you was used in the broad sense, not you specifically). Healing comes from within, I speak from experience on this one. You'll just have to trust me.

We see in ourselves amazing things. But, a lot of people are afraid to take the chance. The difference between those that do amazing things and those that don't is the 'do.' They simply do it. A little bit of luck, a little bit of Fate, and a lot of strength are the road to success in whatever venture you undertake.

It's interesting, but the air is the freshest, the fruit the sweetest when you're out on a limb...but, the fall sucks. You'll fall. But, you'll also get the opportunity to enjoy the things that most people never do. You can continue to stay close to the trunk, with the rest of the crowd. Or, you can risk the fall.

"Every man dies, not every man truly lives."

As far as ego is concerned. Yes, there is a lot of ego involved in the Community. I'm guilty of this from time to time. But, also keep in mind that I did all of the work that I did. I'm proud of my work, I'm proud of my journey. And, you know what? I own every single ounce of it. So, when someone comes into the Community and tries to take advantage of the work I put in, I recoil in disguist. Yes, we're a Community, but we're not Communial. In my opinion, the Community ends once you enter a set. You build attraction. You build comfort. You isolate. You close. One thing is constant there...YOU. The funny thing though is that opening somehow became a communial thing.

Finally, when I read that this place is a place to help others, I can only disagree. I view the Community the same why I view education. In elementary school, your hand is held 100% of the time. In middle school, they don't hold on as tight. In high school, they continue to loosen their grip. In college, they hold on loosely. In grad school, you are on your own. There is no hand holding. Period. End of story. Once you've entered the Community, there is no one that will hold your hand. It is up to you to make improvement. To build your identity. To free your 'James Bond.' You are the only one you answer to in the Community. You can seek out help. That's fine, and that's something that you should do. But, at the end of the day you're always sleeping with the same person...make sure you can go to bed everyday feeling OK with that person.

I think we both agree with how to make progress. It does come from the outside world to a certain extent. The means is where we differ. You think it comes from coaching and mentorship. I think it comes from jumping in the deep end and finding a way to survive. Some need what you have to offer. Some simply need to jump.

There is no right way to do anything in the Community. There is no formula. There is no answer.

My view of the world is simple:

It's a buffett, help yourself to as much or as little as you want. But, don't be afraid of the scrutiny from others when you stack your plate to the sky AND then go back for seconds and thirds and fourths.

Natural game deals mainly with establishing social circles, and setting things up for a later date. That and breaking out of the mold. there are many different seduction types, ie. charm, playboy, speech patterns, nlp, MM, bon vivant... natural game deals more with vibing and charisma, you could say. true: you need a basic understanding of social skills and whatnot, so find those out. here, then you start premiering in a much larger game. thats where an understanding of natural game comes into play

i love braveheart! greatest movie ever! and vector hit the nail on the head with his post about naturals. they didnt learn how to be sucessful with women through forums, books and pua events.

but i see PU like jeet kune do. jeet kune do teaches you to use what works for you. no style is your style. no form is your form. not all jeet kune do practitioners have the same style. like jeet kune do, no PUA has the same style. because everyones personality is different, some techniques work better for PUA-X than PUA-Y. you have to know who you are and why certain things work for you. internalize the basic pua skills (recognizing ioi's, showing confidence, good hygiene, etc.) and be able to roll with the punches and adapt to every situation possible; thats what it means to be a good PUA. to be able to just go out there, be confident and let the PU flow whichever way it does.

being yourself:

i agree that most are here because they were unhapy with who they were, but i feel taht everyone has some good qualities (yes even hitler). i think that you should amplify your good qualities and do away with your poor ones through the process of self-improvement. if youre a funny guy, then be funny. use that to your adavantage. women love funny guys..just dont be obnoxious. if theres something you dont like about youself, change it. overweight? eat better and hit the gym. like BR said, everyone has a self image that they aspire to be..work towards that self image. and eventually, you can CREATE a better you; then you can be yourself and women will love you for it....

i think thats one of the greatest things about the game; self-improvement.

I would say in my particular case this is one of the bigger problems I have.

But I still maintain that it's not universally what people need or want. Some guys are really together and have great self-esteem, but are just looking for some extra technique or insight. For them, insisting that they release their inner Bond is missing the point. Some other guys really do need to transform themselves, but would perhaps prefer some baby steps to get laid sometimes, while working on releasing their inner Bond. Maybe it's not what they "should" want, but I'd rather help someone incrementally rather than tell them to go reinvent themselves and that nothing else matters.

In any case a major transformation like that is a private journey. There's only so much that advice can help. Traditionally, the community focuses on outer game, and my belief is that it's not because outer game is more important. It's not. It's because it's easier to discuss. And it's easier to change and get direct results.

If a strong focus on inner game and psychological transformation is a method, or style, then that's fine. But I still maintain that the various methods or styles are not all equally well suited for different people. It's not a one-size-fits-all sort of thing.

At the same time, it's totally natural for people to have their favorite methods and their own world-view. That's fine. And I'm NOT trying to encourage some sort of "equal time" bullshit. I think people should call it as they see it, with whatever world-view goes along with that. But I don't want "natural" game or Mystery Method or any other particular method to get to the point that it stifles discussion about other possibilities, because I think they all have a lot to offer.

Okay I want to put in my two cents. I have used methodology before and it helped me out a lot. Because I used canned material for the first year of my sarging career I got more comfortable around people than I have ever been. But at some point I started backing away from a method and just started doing natural game.I have been focusing more on learning how to feel better around people rather than using a particular technique. Now as far as other people go I say, do whatever you think you need to do in order to get your RESULTS.

I think that people should be more concerned about their own progress rather than watching and judging other people. A lot of people do the talk but do not walk the walk so to speak.

Finesse,

I'm going to disagree with you a bit, but I have to say awesome post man.

Vector, Bull RUn and myself were having this conversation last night at steak and shake. I've given this a lot of thought lately. My 2 cents is this...

In Peter's world, the game isn't just about picking up women. It should really also be about personal growth and making you a better person. It should be about getting to know yourself, and learning how to relate to people both of the same sex and the opposite sex. To me, it's about learning social skills, plain as that.

In this way, I think that a "method based," "routine based" learning structure does more of a disservice than it does good.

This is going to sound harsh, but meant only to offer some food for thought - if you spend your time learning A1, A3, A3, C1, routine routine routine and never develop your inner self and never learn how to properly react and behave in social situations, you're just going to be a creepy weirdo who people avoid. No matter how much experience you have. Ask yourelf how many Mystery buffs you would invite to hang around with your non-community friends and family?

Getting good with girls is a definite bonus, but what I value even more than that is the friendships I have made during the process. Guys like ALphamo, Playercool, Bull RUn, Vector, TOp Dog, Lion, Cheese, Murad, Taj, on and on (that's not the whole list at all)... I feel friendships like that have made my life much more fun and full than it was before.

Before the game, I had a super hot girlfriend. THen she cheated on me, and I started this journey. Now I haven't reached every milestone I've set for myself, but I feel enriched because I have a choice with women, and I've made some awesome friends along the way.

Sometimes I party too hard, but I feel blessed because it is still better to party too hard than to never have partied at all.

But like you said, that's not what most people are here for. Most people are here to learn (this is harsh but again, meant to be food for thought...) how to run away from themselves and become creepy pickup machines. that's what a lot of the community and the game is about. And that's why I am slowly making an exit from the scene.

Great post Guys. This could almost be titled individual philosophies on the subject in general. Myself being somewhat of a newbie, appreciate the insight and ideas expressed here. I also believe that everyone should develop their own style, and unique material. I am a strong proponent that this should be an avenue of self improvement. NOT indicative of an end result, but merely a beginning to a road map. As mentioned above several times, if you lose yourself, you can just get too weirded out and creepy. Find what works for yourself, what you're comfortable with and in, and plow ahead, making some good friends along the way.
