Primer Class for Newbies???

I feel like one could create basic curriculum geared towards newbies to shorten the learning curve.

I'm positive that a 3 hour class/seminar could shave at least 2-3 months off of a PUA's development. You'd just cover the very basic stuff, but stuff that newbies have zero knowledge of...

When you guys were first getting into the Community would you have been interested in a short, inexpensive, introductory class about pick up? Just something to prime the pump.

OR

Do you think part of the process is just figuring it out on your own? (And with help of veterans.)

BTW, I think any veteran could be an instructor.

So with that said I like to figure shit out on my own. It is how I learn.

You know what I think the biggest thing that hinders development is?

Analysis paralysis. We get all this seduction material out here and you don't know what to use. Direct, indirect, MM, gunwitch, RSD, juggler, c&f, 20 thousand openers, Deangelo kiss test, Mystery kiss test, phase shift shit, etc. the problem is that ALL OF THESE WORK.

That's the problem with going on the internet and primarily learning by yourself. When I did so I ended up switching methods so damn much, which means that I know many styles and I'm good with none. In fact right now I've yet to find a style that 1. works for me, 2. I find congruent with my personality. I've been having to have interactions on the force of my own personality alone, which i must say has improved considerably. But if I had started out with one method and mastered it, I'd be twice as good right now.

A class, in that regard, would be great. Give the newbie (who has no concept of game whatsoever) the basic concepts of non-neediness, value, etc and tell him to just get into the field using whichever method he chooses - but just ONE to begin with.

and hell, graduating newbies like myself and even more experienced guys could always use more ideas.

I'd have been down for sure... I think it'd be much more effective if paired with field work rather than totally a class. I think learning the principles is the very easiest part -- putting it into practice and then getting the results is the not so easy part :)

A class can give so much more than reading online. There is definitely no shortage of material and no shortage of theory, but body language and other nonverbals are HUGE. A class can teach correct kino vs. bad kino, correct BL vs. bad BL and such. I think that would be a huge help.

I'd say for a class, forget about tactics or 'methods' or theories and focus on elements that are hard to express with just words.

You nailed it. Fact is that you can learn a whole lot better and faster if you have someone teaching it to you in an interactive forum. Reading something looses something in the translation, especially when we talk about stuff like pick up.

You can show so many things: BL, tonality, vocal projection, eye contact, kino, even the approach.

I get your point. BUT, if The Game was a NYT best seller then why aren't there a shit ton more PUAs in the world? I'll tell you why. It's because they have no one grabbing them by the hand and giving them the very basics, showing them the tools, and getting them involved.

Being a part of the Community has been one of the more important things I've ever done in my life. Mainly because it helped me understand that I'm the shit and I'm desired and worthy and all of that Oprah bullshit speak. I see so many AFCs in the world and I feel so much pitty for them because deep down inside, no matter how happy they appear to be, they want more...they want to unleash their on personal James Bond they have living in their head.
