I think I know what it is NOW

Postby Guest » Thu May 22, 2008 4:52 pm

Well I was thought I knew what it was that was destroying my confidence. Like everybody else here said before, my father and the environment I was in was just a small factor. The real problem was me. I did not meet the standard I set myself up for after college.
For some odd reason, I am surrounded by lots entrepreneur friends. They live the life that I define as "successful." I know that getting myself a job to get paychecks won't lead me to where I want to be in the end. I want to be an entrepreneur and investor. I want to own assets such as buildings, lands, boats, and mansions. I just can't think of a way to start off as an entrepreneur. That is why I am struggling with myself.
I must admit that I have to get a job to pay off school loan and living costs for the time being. I will have to seize the opportunity as soon as I can do these 2 things.

I am just amazed how my friend who is only 21 makes bout 100k-300k a year. He is a multi-business owner and an investor. My other friend owns a company and makes bout 60k a year. He is only 21 also. (I can't name these guys for privacy issues)
I know of a guy from church who is only 31 and retired at the age of 27 and living the life of a rapper. No work and money makes money for him. He goes golfing 5 times a week at least. My father's friend owns bout 10 cars and the cheapest car he has is no less than 100k. His Lamborgini isn't the most expensive car he owns. His other friend who bought the golf course with cash.... He paid about 40 million in cash. I hear he makes 100k a day or something.

I will be lying if I don't envy these guys. Don't get me wrong. I am not all to materialistic. I have to be sucessful not only for myself but for my mother and everyone else who has suffered for me. I have grown up from one of the poorest family. My family was lucky to be able to have one meal a day. Well I am not gonna go into details and shit coz I feel like I am asking for ur sympathy. I don't want that. Save your sympathy.
What I am trying to say is that I feel like I must suceed to pay back to everyone who sacrificed for me. I want to take them to vacations and such.
I need relieve some of the pressure for me to go forward. (if u don't know, i have like 16 uncles and aunts coz my mother's side grandmother had like 13 kids... and think about every single one of 'em has kids... that is why I can't afford to take all of them vacations with normal job. I need to be ballin haha. One way or another I owe to my relatives)

I also thought that I was being less of person to work at dry cleaners right now. It is my parent's business. I am just helping them out while I am waiting on resonses and such. I guess I started to think that I am a less of person for cleaning other people's cloth and shit when I graduated from one of the top public schools in America. I need to get rid of that stupid school ego and just suck it up and go through with this shit.
This is what I realized. I think this was the biggest thing that affected me and my game.
Now that I spotted this virus in me, I will have to remove it and cure myself.
I will let you know how it goes.

Only one person can make you happy in life and that's you. The people I know in life who are the most unhappy are the ones who continually want something and if they get it they just want something else. They are never happy because there is always something better. You have to decide what is important to YOU -- not because of what others have. And then when you decide what YOU want, go for it balls out. As long as you know you're doing your best, you always have something to be proud of yourself about. Glad to hear you spotted your virus -- that is the first step in fixing it.

If you can pull it off being self employed is pretty much the way to go. Now sure you might work your way up in a company and make millions but that is rare.

I can relate to you pretty well except I have about 7-8 years on you. I have never had a real job other than when I was a kid and worked at Montgomery Ward and the Golf Course. I too graduated from UT of course it was the one in Dallas though. I might as well rip out my diploma and wipe my ass with it. I have never used my diploma...hell I have never even hung my diploma up on the wall. I got my diploma mainly to make my parents happy and I wanted it so I could say I had one I suppose. While I was in school I was pulling in more than my professors so it always seemed pointless.

I also have the problem that I am always worrying about my family. Of course my worry is only for my immediate family(Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Neice). But I am always trying to figure out how to get them nice stuff, can I employ them in some fashion, can I invest in businesses for them, can I buy them this, etc. This can be a burden if you choose to do it. I do it because they are the most important thing to me so it doesn't feel like a burden. I will say you don't have to do anything monetarily wise to repay your family. Just live a good life and spend time with them and that is payment enough. They are going to love you the same no matter what. Another thing you have to worry about presents and such. I kinda go over the top on presents(xmas, birthdays, etc.) They can't afford as nice stuff for me and I think this might bother them. So keep that in mind. Me thinking about it I might scale down in the future so they don't feel bad.

I have always been intrigued by the people who have stuff. How did that guy afford that car. How did he afford that pimp house. Most of these people are driven and they got a little lucky.

Your friends who make xx amount of money. Just keep in mind they might not really make as much as they say. People who are self employed have odd incomes. It is never the same month to month and can flucuate from year to year immensely. Another thing I have noticed is most people lie about their incomes. The dude who makes 60 might really make 45. The guy pulling in 6 figures prob makes much less.

I firmly believe entrepreneurs are born that way. It is in their blood. They just can't seem to work for anyone else. They need to be on their own setting their own hours and making their own rules. If you feel this is you then I say go for it. You are young and have nothing to lose. The trick is finding something you can do and start from scratch. I say this because I have seen so many people who are like 50 years old decide to be entrepreneurs. At this point they have saved up enough cash and decide to buy a franchise only to lose it a year later because they had no idea what they were doing. They weren't entrepreneurs. Give yourself a deadline on being a successful entrepreneur. If after some period of time you don't suceed use your diploma and get a job. I have also seen a ton of guys who were just drifters all their life. They never got a real job and just made a shitty income their entire life and lived a shitty life.

Keep in mind without cash you won't be able to do many of the franchise type businesses. No one is going to loan you money without a ton of cash sitting around. I know because I tried when I was about 19. You learn quick that you need to come up with another idea. I got lucky and started a lot of businesses when it was easy on the Internet. Now it is much harder. There is so much competition that it is just crazy hard. With that being said prob the easiest business for you to start right now is a service business (ie: mowing yards) that type of business.

What does your friend do who claims to make 300k a year?

It fluctuates as you said, playercool. It is between 100k to 300k. I think he has like 2-3 business with real estate property he lends to others. So every year is different he says. If he is lucky it gets close to 300k. However it could barely meet 100k some years. (I think he has automotive industry and construction industry business)

Hopefully u don't mind me asking some questions related to being an entrepreneur stuff sometime. haha =P

Working at your parents dry cleaners is great. What would it take for your dad to fire you?
Pick up the 4 hour workweek and Anything by Robert Kiyosaki and start reading. I think I may set up a Cashflow game night as well. I own 101 and the 202 expansion and I know someone who owns 101 so we could get a couple games going.

Work for dad as long as he doesn't drive you nuts and find out what the best road to wealth is for you. If dad drives you nuts, pick one of those cube hell jobs coming your way as a way to build capitol that you can turn into REAL wealth.

You are also welcome to join me and 7 other guys from this board at the thirty day challenge http://www.ThirtyDayChallenge.com/challenge/11252 and get some great free information on how to build a web business.

Keep moving forward and keep everything in balance.

RK is great, I love his stuff. RK and Timothy Ferriss are my Wealth guys, Mystery and Style are my relationship guys. I don't have any specific health guys but I am always looking. I will say this, El Fenix really has something going with the Sarging Supplements. I can't wait to see more. His Approach Anxiety cocktail has done wonders for me.

You will find that a lot of guys on this board are not only trying to better their love life but outside life as well. So actually I bet a ton of the guys here know about R.K.

Sleek you say your friend is 21 and loaning money out in real estate. Did he come into some money via inheritance or something? I'm guessing he is a hard money lender. If you have a few million dollars sitting around you can make some crazy returns doing this. Hell even one million you might get a return of 150k a year or more.

Feel free to pick my brain anytime.

funny that you say that.. RK knows of the community and has learned a bit of game. neil strauss is friends with him and helped him during the time he was writing the 4 hour work week. thats why a lot of the principles you find in that book arent just work specific, they can be used for relationships also.
