Interesting catching up on some of this. We had a pretty decent sized contingent from about 2009-2013. The issue with PUA type stuff in general, is the extremely high turnover rate. It's one of those things that most people see as a means to an end. When they've accomplished what they wanted (or not), they move on to something else. It's not treated like the gym where you need to keep going to maintain what you've achieved.

Another issue is the rampant value leeching. Everybody wants to learn but very few offer anything of their own or care to stick around long enough to pass on what they've learned. Once people got what they wanted, poof. I think this was being taken for granted at the peak of the community here. In the 4-5 years I was heavily involved with things, I probably saw an average of 10 regular faces at any given time. Those same 10 of us were meeting at Cafe Express in uptown sharing ideas and giving presentations to the rest of the group, depending who volunteered to do so that month. The rest were mostly meeting us out, watching us sarge, asking a million questions, then never returning for whatever reasons.

Between me and Triumvirate, we were running with about 20+ years combined experience and tried to put together a workshop for newbies. We thought hey, we could charge a minimal fee which would pretty much go towards the location needed to do it. Couldn't get a single person to sign up or even commit. But when RSD came to town once a year, the same people crawled out from under every rock to attend a free tour on a Thursday night. And some even paid for the Hot Seat. Which is interesting because they couldn't be found for a basically free workshop for a few Saturday afternoons. I'm sure they thought Tyler had the magic pill and didn't want to bother with actual hard work and dedication. Needless to say, when a good chunk of the contingent moved (or moved on), the lair went with it.

Not sure if it's something to do with the type of person who is attracted to the lifestyle or specific to Dallas in general. I know RSD is still making the rounds and I run into the occasional guy who's running with that crew, but still a lot of value leeches. I'm guessing not much has changed in that regard.
