Hair Styles of the Last 100 Years - 1980's

Eighties hair was either high maintenence - big, sprayed, curled, permed, highlighted, or easy care like Dianna's mouse-coloured layered cut, or the wash 'n leave perm. This era saw the popularity of the mullet haircut, we all know how well that one went over.

Hair Styles of the Last 100 Years - 1990's

Postby Guest » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:39 pm

1990's
The hairstyles of the 90s weren't as big as the extreme styles of the 80s. Many were still large, but they were more sexy and natural looking. Supermodels often played up their hair to great effect either to promote the fashionable clothes for Versace and other top designers on the runways of New York, Paris, Milan or London--or to sell fashion magazines. In 1995, Jennifer Aniston skyrocketed to fame as women everywhere clamored salons to get the now infamous "Rachel cut".

Hair Styles of the Last 100 Years - 2000's

Postby Guest » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:41 pm

2000's
Never before have so many hair styles of the past are revisited and updated as in the last few years. Everything from finger waves to bobs to pixies to shags, etc, etc. The newest and boldest styles are coming out in the emo rock scene in the last couple of years. Most consist of contrasting colors, precise and well defined cuts, sometimes even choppy, and can often be mixed with past styles. Many of these cuts take out the bulk of the hair past the ears. This creates a larger looking head area and a slimmer area past the shoulders, like so:

This one is an updated 50's style.

This one combines bouffant, asymmetrical and layered cut.

And that about wraps it up. Now that you know a shit ton about women's hairstyles, go out and compliment them!

That is beyond impressive.

Is there a wrap up post, or a quick summary available?

Thank God someone finally posted about the different hairstyles. I've been so afraid of sounding like a fool when I talk about hair that I have just been staying in the house and crying in the corner.

Here are the cliffs-notes on how to compliment a womans hair:

"I like your hair".

Or if you're feeling particularly bold:

"I like your hair. What made you decide to do that?"

Serendipitous, do you have a course I can purchase that goes into more detail about hairstyles?

Take the knowledge I have presented and begin to notice these things in field. If you see something you like, compliment her by explaining what you like. For instance:

I really like what you've done to your hair, how the highlights and lowlights add depth to your hair. It really makes your eyes stand out.

Believe it or not, when we are considering the design for a woman's hair, we are taking the shape of her face, the color of her eyes, the location of her cheek bones, her ears, her body type, her personality (sporty vs professional) and her sense of style into consideration.

Serendipity- that is the least informative compilation I have ever read regarding PU. There was very little to do with "complimenting". The majority had to do with the history of hair styles.

Do we get to hear about how to have a "threesome" next? I see at the bottom of your posts you are knowledgeable in that area as well. Maybe you could post 30pages of pictures on that???
