thanks!

Ok, trading/selling e-books is not legal. Trading/selling DVD's, CD's, hard back books, etc, is kosher.

So, it is ok to trade/sell the kosher things. I am confident the members have the intelligence to discern what is and is not legal.

I know how you feel about this and I respect your stance. It would be a shame that strict scrutiny of each transaction may deter legal transactions that would benefit the guys.

I'm not talking about strict scrutiny of each transaction. People trade things on a 1-to-1 basis all the time. Legal or illegal, it is none of my business. However, using this site as a peer-to-peer trading conduit is a whole other issue. There should be something in the forum rules that covers this. For example, put members on notice that they may list items for trade only if they have the hard copy, original DVD, or original CD. Then we're perfectly legal. If they have an e-book or a DVD they downloaded from bittorent, then they can find some other way to trade.

I'm not judging people or being a killjoy. I'm just protecting my livelihood. If I'm getting in the way of everybody's growth because I don't want to be a party to willful copyright infringement, then just remove me as a moderator.

I am not advocating illegal distribution of copyrighted material. The assumption was made that it was Kalop’s intention to do so. It is important to give everyone the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. It would be a good idea to add something to the forum rules to clarify. I know you are the expert in such matters. Could you write something up? Thanks in advance.

So, if it’s an original DVD, CD, etc, trade/sell away.

Who made that assumption? I merely cautioned against it in response to Vector's post. He and I, and later El Fenix, were just giving general advice. If someone thought I was singling him out, then he misunderstood me or is being too defensive.

Sure. I can do that.

Just use common sense. The gurus charge a lot of money for their material, which makes it tempting to get around paying for it. However, it is their intellectual property, just like a movie or music CD. It's fine to borrow a DVD or give a CD to a friend or sell a used original (see Movie Trading Company or GameStop). On the other hand, arranging the free distribution of copyrighted material is illegal (see KaaZaa). But you summed it up nicely.
