What if she was, like, Jessica Alba or something? Would you force it then? I'm just curious.

Sometimes, in some places, in some situations it doesn't make sense to run Game.
[/quote1228933891]

I thought game was something we didn't turn off and that it just comes out whether we want it to or not?
[/quote1228941627]

I think you know what I meant.

But, to specify, you wouldn't go out of your way to talk with her.
[/quote1228945750]

Define out of my way.

Jesus! Ok.

In a doctor's waiting room no way would I approach a girl. In other words, I would not FORCE an interaction.

Whats your definition of FORCE?

omg people! Is this for real? At times it is socially unacceptable to be approaching people. It is up to you to decide when that is. Think if you are sick and feeling like shit, you are waiting for the doctor. Do you really think you are gonna be worried about some random guy talking to you and give out your number. I think in that situation the girl has other things on her mind and is not looking to meet someone.

Bullrun, can you define "interaction"?

haha, I'm j/k.

Call me incompetent, but I am just trying to figure out where he is coming from without having to guess as to the context in which words were used.

If I am wrong then tell me, but I am under the assumption that the perception of the word force would be a factor here.

Particularly in this instance in which the amount of "force" is under question. Is it truly being forced upon her?

If she is/was attracted to him and he would have simply said "Hi" would that interaction be forced?

Again, when I hear "force" I perceive that as being something that is undesirable or unwanted. After all if it is forced, then there has to be resistance.

True, I believe there are certain situations in which it would not be wise to "force" and interaction. And by "force" i literally mean "plow" through her perception of your value based on looks alone, without talking to you first, after you have said hi.

If she would have wanted him to approach her because she found him desirable also, would that be forced if he did approach? guy likes girl, girl likes guy. In my mind, the only way to find out if she liked him for certain is to say "hi" to the mom, and read their body language and other signals they put out. If it's a no go, then bail, no harm no foul, but if he's in, then he just got some new tail, and if they get married a crazy story to tell the kids.

So let me reiterate my previously stated question.

Bull Run, Am I correct in assuming that by "would not force an interaction" that you feel conversing with people in a waiting room is just a no go in any form and that we should stick to just talking about our sickness to the nurses and staff?

Well I can give my thoughts on it. It may differ from yours and bull runs. True, people do meet in crazy places and you never know. But what I think he meant by force is going out of the way to talk to her. More than likely she wasn't sitting right next to him since people tend not to sit next to people they don't know if there are open chairs. So that would mean JJE would have to get up and move next to the mom and daughter. Now if she was giving IOI's, this may be ok. But more than likely you would be going out of the way to talk to her since she would not be sitting next to you. If she was next to you, I think it would be ok to say hi and chat for a bit and see where it goes. But again, I just think it would be to awkward, especially with the mom there to try and number close. And again, I think if they were both sick a convo would be the last thing on her mind.

But those are just my thoughts. They are not facts, they are not field tested or whatever, just the way I see things. I am sure others have a different view on this.

And that's why it probably seems as if I am nit picking on BR. (I love ya buddy!) I am just asking for a clearer definition not based on words. Although I think I may end up disagreeing with BR about this, because I think you can talk to anyone, anywhere (if you can do it right and if that is what he means), I don't exactly know where BR is coming from. and I just want to make sure. It's had to say you disagree with a thought that you don't fully understand their context behind.

Example:
person 1:The apple is red!
person 2: No its not its gray! (this person is color blind but person 1 doesn't know this. and person 2 hasn't told them)
person 1: You're an idiot!
person 2: *shoots person 1*

You see, all this death and mayhem could have been avoided if only person 1 knew person 2 was colorblind.

And since I usually agree with BR, that why I'm having to ask such, seemly, stupid and mundane questions.

JJE could have approached other ways than moving chairs, for instance:

They have magazines in the waiting rooms usually. He could walk around and look for some and say something as simple as "They never have the one you like reading, you know?" Simple.

Just/us you are right I was not sitting next to her and would've had to move closer, although at the point she was at the nurse's desk and mentioned she was 21 she was only 3-4 feet away.

If I had gone in I would've definitely looked for signs that the interaction was unwanted and left it alone if it was... at the same time never hurts to be sociable, too.

Really it was an absurd situation I really only posted it to point out the thoughts that go through your head, not to get advice on it :) No matter where I go now I am scanning the room for these situations -- looking for the ring on the finger, evaluating situations, age, etc -- I just think the mental process is funny where it leads. It's starting to get like a HUD ;) I may have to go back to my old avatar.

bah I was a diagnosed social phobic at a point, they even put me on medicine. I didn't like how tired I was on it so I stopped taking it. People change, our mind is moldable. Genetics are only about 50% of who we are. The other 50% is all you, make it what you want. The crazy part is very few people capitalize on that 50% that they do have, they don't want to put effort so they get no results.

I know generally when I feel like shit I don't want to approach chicks. The reason is not because I'm weak or get anxiety its just because I don't want to at that current moment. I do what I want, not what other people want me to do. I still get anxiety now and then, but it just means a challenge. Start learning to love a challenge, do what you want. Honestly did you really feel like approaching that chick all sick and shit? I wouldn't have, but if you did you should realize your wants and go for them. You both already have something in common. There's you an opener

Man, the flus a bitch isn't it?
