Is this against forum rules?

Postby Kalop » Tue Oct 09, 2007 8:46 pm

Before I post, I wanted to see if this is against the rules. I'm interested in trading PUA material. I've got tons of videos, audios, etc. To be honest, I want to keep growing/learning, but I'm sick of buying.. I'm not selling and I'm not interested in profit... just trading.

If this is acceptable, I can post a list of everything I got? thanks

I have a ton of material as well I wouldn't mind trading for stuff. These are all mostly video seminars and some audio tracks.

If you are trading commercial products, then it is probably a violation of copyright which could get DallasPUA in legal trouble if it is permitted openly. If other members were to contact you privately and you were to arrange something, then DallasPUA can't be held responsible.

Please keep illegal distribution of copyrighted material off the site. Use private email for that.

If I bought a book and decided to sell the book when I finished reading it to Half Price books or on Ebay, isn't that legal? Similarly, I assume it would be legal if sold to another person. And since trading is a form of commerce, trading would also be ok.

However, if someone made duplicates of that one item and sold it in mass, that would be illegal.

Am I missing something :?:

Making copies of and distributing copyrighted video or audio or electronic material (e.g. software) is not legal, even if it's given for free. If you want to sell or give away original media that you have purchased, that's ok. You probably know whether what you are wanting to do is copyright violation or not (whether or not you agree with it).

Hard copy books are very different from e-books. When you purchase an e-book, you buy a license to use the e-book. It's just like software (actually, it is software). You can't buy a copy of Microsoft Word and then "trade" it for Photoshop, where both users now have both products.

I'm not saying people don't do such things. People break the law all the time and get away with it. I'm saying I don't want to see this Web site shut down because it's a warez site. Just posting what copyrighted material you have to trade (ahem, peer-to-peer file sharing) is turning this site into KaaZaa. You're already dangerously close to breakign the law. I certainly don't want to lose my career over this. Mojo, do what you want, but you know how I feel about this.

I'd say keep it on the downlow. If we have a bunch of threads on here, about trading stuff, that's going to far.
If people want to trade on a 1 to 1 basis, the ball is in their court. I'd say use PM, and email as much as possible, if someone would want to do that sort of thing ;)
